The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and growing the fund development program and related marketing, communications, and public relations efforts. This position will reports directly to the Executive Director for Care Ring and works closely with Care Ring’s Senior Staff. This full-time position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Duties will include:

·  Developing, implementing, and maintaining strategies for all Care Ring fundraising activities including cultivation and solicitation of individual donors.

·  Establishing, maintaining partnerships and ensuring appropriate cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts for volunteers, key donors and prospects including individuals, corporation, foundations, the faith community and civic groups.

·  Oversees fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation.

·  Recruiting and maintaining a volunteer committee to plan and implement Care Ring’s annual events including solicitation of corporate sponsors and auction items.

·  Marketing and PR responsibilities including agency brochures, newsletters, annual report, website, social media, news releases, and positive media relations.

·  Ensure the development and implementation of external communication, media, marketing and branding efforts.

·  Responsible for the direction and management of 4-5 direct reports.

·  Overseeing Care Ring’s grant writing and grant management activities, including working closely with Care Ring’s Grant Writer.

·  Assisting with Care Ring’s United Way Campaign, including presentations, agency fairs, and preparing proposal for allocation request.

·  Assisting Care Ring’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director with agency management including budget preparation and strategic planning.

Basic Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or relevant field required. Advanced Degree a plus.

·  Demonstrated supervisory experience.

·  Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification a plus.

·  Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP) membership a plus.

·  Familiarity with Charlotte philanthropic markets is ideal.

·  Experience managing donor gifts (processes and database).

·  Excellent computer skills necessary including all MS Office Suite applications or equivalent programs and fundraising software.

·  Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, including presentations.

·  Healthcare-related fundraising experience desired.

·  Experience working with non-profit agencies preferred.
