Job Title: Community Fundraiser (London and South East)

Department: Community and Events Fundraising

Working Base: Home office

Reporting To: Community Fundraising Manager (London and South East)

The area covered by the London and South East team comprises London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.

Job Purpose

1.  To assist the Community Fundraising Manager in the development and management of volunteer fundraising in the region, achieving agreed financial targets.

2.  To support, motivate and develop new and existing committees and fundraising groups.

3.  To research, identify and develop new fundraising opportunities and areas of potential support, in line with the Community Fundraising strategy.

4.  To be responsible for specific projects agreed with the Community Fundraising Manager.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

1.  To manage specific areas of fundraising in the region as agreed with the Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Community and Events Fundraising

2.  To be responsible for the day to day organisation, development and delivery of challenge events to meet financial targets.

3.  To recruit volunteers to assist with events, developing strong relationships and identifying and cultivating supporters to develop new fundraising opportunities and partnerships.

4.  To work closely with the Community Fundraising Manager and Head Office staff to maximise income from the varied fundraising activities in the region.

5.  To represent Action Medical Research and build the charity’s profile by attending key meetings and events.

6.  To manage and update the database and ensure it is used as an effective means of communication, information storage, networking and reporting.

7.  To undertake general office administration, including data entry, routine correspondence, filing and enquiries, as well as maintaining systems to accurately account for all direct income and expenditure within the region.

8.  To work with the Community Fundraising Manager to review all income targets and expenditure budgets on a regular basis. To produce monthly financial and activity reports in conjunction with the Community Fundraising Manager which will form part of the Charity’s monthly financial and business plan review.

Other Responsibilities

1.  To maintain an up to date knowledge of Action Medical Research, including an understanding of the principles governing the funding of research and all projects being supported.

2.  To be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.

3.  To be prepared to travel throughout the region as required.

4.  To keep the Community Fundraising Manager fully briefed on all activities being undertaken.

5.  To deputise for the Community Fundraising Manager as required.

6.  To undertake any other duties of a compatible nature as may be required from time to time by the Community Fundraising Manager.
