Job Purpose: / The postholder will work closely with the Head of Community Fundraising, Community Fundraising Team and Charity to ensure efficient and successful implementation of the Community Fundraising Strategy. The post holder will take specific responsibility for developing and maintaining an effective schools fundraising programme and volunteer fundraising programme.
Main Duties/Tasks / Principal Job Duties of Role
Income Generation
  1. Foster excellent working relationships with both internal and external partners to support the successful achievement of the community fundraising strategy.
  2. Develop and maintain a comprehensive strategic programme for schools fundraising throughout North West England, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
  3. Develop and maintain the Charity Ambassador programme. Maintaining relationships with current Ambassadors, identifying potential new Ambassadors and supporting and developing their fundraising through effective motivation and stewardship.
  4. Acquiring new Business – 50% of the role will be acquiring new business inspiring new supporters to raise money.
  5. Recruiting, organising and managing volunteers to carry out various functions within the Community Fundraising and the wider charity.
  6. Assist with the arrangements to ensure that all donors receive outstanding stewardship to establish long term commitment to the charity.
  7. Assist with other aspects of Community and wider Charity fundraising including the Charity events programme.
  8. Undertake other duties which may be designated from time to time by the Senior Team to achieve the Charity’s objectives, including representing the department on occasions, functions and events as required.

General
  1. The post-holder will be allocated specific duties and be responsible for project managing their successful delivery.
  2. To work with the fundraising team to develop and achieve objectives and plans
  3. To carry out and undertake duties other than those listed above but commensurate with this role, according to the needs of Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
  4. To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times in compliance with the Charity’s policies.
  5. Cooperate in a professional manner with all organisational staff in maintaining good relations with external bodies in order to promote the organisation’s image and gain increased support for its work.
  6. Cooperate with organisational staff in maintaining amicable inter-personal relations
  7. To attend relevant and appropriate meetings in agreement with line manager
  8. The role may at times include lifting and manual handling
  9. This role is office based within the Hospital, requires regular evening and weekend working, and frequent travel throughout the North West

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Communication / Excellent written and verbal skills are required as well as the ability to negotiate with confidence to influence a wide range of people both internally and externally.
Confident in presenting to a range of different audiences
The ability to communicate with empathy and a respect for confidentiality.
A thorough understanding of the principles of customer (supporter) care to ensure that long term relationships are developed with donors and supporters of the Charity.
Relationship Skills / The ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts both inside and outside the Charity and Trust.
The ability to work cooperatively with colleagues across the Charity to successfully deliver the fundraising strategy.
Experienced in dealing with people from all backgrounds and all ages. / Experienced in a busy working environment
Knowledge Training & Experience / Experience of working in a customer focused role.
Experience of implementing efficient administrative systems in a fast paced working environment.
Up to date knowledge and working experience of computer software packages (word, excel, access database).
Track record of dealing with the public in a professional or voluntary capacity.
Full driving licence. / Experience in a fundraising and/or sales environment.
Experience of using a fundraising database.
Understanding of the principles behind charitable giving.
Analysis and Judgement / High standards of personal conduct, honesty and integrity.
Respect for and ability to maintain confidentiality.
The ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with donors, including families of children treated in the hospital.
Planning and Organisation / The ability to plan, prioritise and manage a number of projects simultaneously from start to finish, including meeting demanding time scales.
The ability to multi task in a busy, rapid paced, often random office environment.
