Preface

CAR statistically accepts data for specific policy effective years each accounting year and processes it through all edits (Fatal/Unknown, Statistical, and Verification). However, only the latest ten years of data are processed through the Statistical and Verification edits. For the purpose of this manual, the eligible reporting years are broken into two categories one for data accepted by CAR and processed through the Fatal/Unknown edits and the S01 (Class Code) Statistical Edit and one for the data processed through the rest of the edits. That is, while CAR accepts 1988 and 1989 Loss records in Accounting Year 1999, it does not process them through the Statistical and Verification Edits.

When reading the edits, reference the Policy Effective Dates below to determine whether the record is processed by the edit. Please note that some edits have a smaller range of valid Policy Effective Dates, therefore, these edits contain the applicable Policy Effective Years in bold type in the Type of Record column. The edits affected are as follows: S01 (also listed below), S20, S22, S45, S46, S47, S48, S49, V53.

Furthermore, some edits will refer you back to the Preface for the valid years of specific date fields, such as, the Transaction Effective Date field, etc. (S03 Edit – Premium Dates and S34 Edit – Loss Dates).

For Accounting Year 1999:

  1. The Year in the Accounting Date field on all records must be 9.
  1. The following years are valid and must be used for the specified Record Type:
