Staff Council Meeting
December 5, 2017, 10 a.m., ADM 170

OLD BUSINESS: Cali Simchuck, the Staff Council Chair, called the roll of members. Cali distributed an Icebreaker asking 1) What part of your current job is your favorite and 2) what three characteristics …make you feel engaged…and valued as an employee? (Answers are attached.) Minutes from the last meeting on November 2, 2017, were emailed earlier for review. Mary Carter, the Staff Council Secretary, asked if there were any additions or corrections; there were none. A copy of the minutes are attached.
NEW BUSINESS: Cali introduced Linda Novak, Dean of Public Service, and Barbara McCabe, Administrative Secretary to the Dean of Public Service. They were invited to provide input on processes that have been changed or should consider changing. Those present discussed other ideas: provide more professional development for staff, improve the flow of oral and electronic communication, increase management involvement, consider monetary rewards for the 5-year plan, and continue customer service efforts. In addition, staff would like faculty to reinforce security efforts in place.

Next Meeting: The next Staff Council meeting will be announced in the new year.
