Come learn about the Greater Rochester Parent Leadership Training Institute!
The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is a national family model that integrates democracy skills and child development into a leadership curriculum. PLTI provides parents information and tools to get more involved in their community to make positive change for children. The Institute has graduated 3 classes of parents and caregivers from Rochester, Greece, Brighton, and East & West Irondequoit.

The 4th PLTI Class in Greater Rochester will start in September 2015 and will include:
· Becoming familiar with local, state, and federal law
· Understanding public budgets
· Assessing and defining community problems
· Public speaking
· Collaborating with community leaders and neighbors
· Creating your own community project, based on your interests and concerns
· Alumni support: after class ends, leadership continues! Graduates are working on issues like neighborhood safety, academic outcomes, leadership development for children, parks and recreation
· Child leadership: The Children's Leadership Training Institute (CLTI) teaches the same concepts to the children of PLTI participants so the whole family can become more engaged in civic change
Who will be in PLTI?
· Parents and others who care about children – including Uncles & Aunts, Grandparents, Foster Parents
· All ages, income levels, education levels, races and ethnicities
When and How?
· 1 day Saturday Retreat & 20 weeks of Monday nights, Sept. 2015-March 2016. 5:15 – 8:45
· High quality curriculum delivered at no cost to participants, thanks to local donors
· Children’s Leadership Institute for ages 3-13 provided each week
· Dinner provided each week. Transportation available as needed
