Our reasons for learning and singing in the Church are to more fully experience our Catholic tradition, develop our singing ability, express our love for God, and share our treasure with the congregation and community. The following is an outline of our plan for the 2017-2018 school year. HOW OFTEN WILL THE YOUTH CHOIR ENHANCE MASS & LITURGY?

  • Every 3rd Sunday of the Month atSacred Heart, 11 AM Mass, OCT. – MAY plus Christmas, Lent, Easter, Mary and other church-wide special celebrations

FIRST REHEARSAL IS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

  • Rehearsals take place at Sacred Heart Church Hall, Main St, Yarmouth, ME (Freeport, Falmouth, Yarmouth & Gray choristers)
  • Yarmouth children may take the bus from their respective schools (Harrison Middles, Rowe School and Yarmouth Elementary) after school directly to 317 Main Music School (across from Sacred Heart) and Mrs. Runge will meet the bus

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE – EVERY WEDNESDAYFROM 3:15-5:15 pm

-staggered arrival (between 3:15 and 4:00 depending on child’s age) with time for a snack before/after singing (Youth Schola families provide snack; please sign up online!)

-rehearsals will include a Gregorian chant mini-lesson, short music theory capsules, spoken and sung prayer, liturgical guidance, unison, 2 and 3 partrepertoire, canons and sacred rounds and vocal technique development

-opportunity for breakout sessions for older choristers to work with younger ones on musical skills

-A full schedule will be available at the first rehearsal. Please take a moment to register your child and return it tonight or to the parish office (266 Foreside Rd Falmouth 04105). Forms can be downloaded at the Parish Website –
