The regular monthly meeting of the Buena Vista Township Board of Fire Commissioners Dis18trict 5 was brought to order on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 8:00 PM.
This meeting was duly advertised in accordance with the Public Meetings Act of the State of New Jersey. Notice of same was published in the Press of Atlantic City. Notice of same was further posted on the official bulletin board of the Township of Buena Vista and was placed on file in the Township Clerk’s Office.
Roll call was as follows:

Commissioner Mr. Dave Woodward-Present
Minutes:
Secretary, Mr. Randy Knapp, read the minutes from the December monthly meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Commissioner Dave Woodward and second by Commissioner Ed Metzler with all present voting in favor.
Treasurer’s Report:
- See the reconciled bank statements for account balances.
-A motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made by
Commissioner Randy Knapp and second by Commissioner Dave Woodward with all present voting in favor.
Chief’s Report:
- 135 calls to date for 2016, 2 calls to date for 2017
- Brush truck coming along
- Purchased some Milwaukee tools
- Ready to work on engine bay soon
- Santa went well
Old Business:
-Gerald Sutts was served a summons from the 2013 MVC involving 12-32 and another vehicle. A copy was faxed to Rich Braslow Esq for review.
-The Commissioners/CLFD/BVT were served a summons from the 2013 MVC involving 12-32 and another vehicle. Copies were made and a complete copy of each of the summons for Gerald Sutts and the Commissioners were mailed certified to Rich Braslow Esq, and John D’Agostino Insurance Agency.
-On July 21, 2015 Engine 12-32 was involved in a MVC as the Engine was parked and refilling with water from a hydrant. Injuries were reported.
-Bill Collins is going to contact D’agostino insurance to make sure the old firetruck is on the insurance coverage as well as the newer brush truck.
-The newer brush truck needs DMV ppwk, Bill Collins and John Moriarity are going to see what is required.
-Resolution 12192016-01 Line Item Transfers was introduced by Commissioner Bill Collins and second by Commissioner Randy Knapp with all present voting in favor.
-Resolution 121916-02 Approving 2016 Encumbrances to be paid in 2017 was introduced by Commissioner Bill Collins and second by Commissioner Randy Knapp with all present voting in favor.
-Resolution 12192016-03 Adopting 2017 Temporary Budget was introduced by Commissioner Bill Collins and second by Commissioner Randy Knapp with all present voting in favor.
New Business:
-Two copies of the Adopted budget was mailed to the director of the DLGS using certified mail and also a full copy was scanned to a PDF and emailed to the same.
-The annual election is scheduled for February 18, 2017. Any candidate for Commissioner vacancies must submit a verified petition to the Clerk or Secretary of the Commissioners, and such petition must be filed at least 29 days prior to the date of the election. One Petition has been requested for the two (3) year vacancies.
Bills:
-Purchase orders were passed around and initialed.
-A motion was made to pay all bills by Commissioner Randy Knapp and second by Commissioner John Moriarity with all present voting in favor.
-Checks were signed by Commissioner Bill Collins, Commissioner Ed Metzler, and Commissioner Dave Woodward.
Public:
-Nothing from the public.
Adjourn:
-There being no furthermore business, a motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Commissioner John Moriority and second by Commissioner Randy Knapp, with all voting in favor at 9:10 PM.
