Dear Parent/Guardian(s),

Welcome back to a brand new school year! I hope you enjoyed the summer with your children, and are ready for a busy yet productive 2016-2017 school year. I would like to take this time to introduce myself as your child’s Anatomy and Physiology teacher. I am really looking forward to working with him/her and all of my other students! I am so fortunate to be able to work in a profession and with a subject that I have so much passion for. I graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences Pre-Medicine, so I absolutely love science and hope to instill that same love in my students. I am excited for the year and hope to assist your child towards success in and out of the classroom!

As an Anatomy and Physiology teacher I get the pleasure of working with upperclassmen. This means that in a very short time they will begin their journey of life past high school. With that in mind, my first goal is to assist all of my students to graduate! But that is only the first step! As your children leave the classroom they are going to need a strong foundation and a wide variety of skills. I plan to help all of my students grow in these areas. First and foremost, in the twenty first century a strong set of STEM (Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology) skills is crucial. This course will allow students to improve their math skills through many different styles of teaching and learning. The goal of teaching through inquiry-based techniques is that the students will develop a robust and intuitive understanding of the content proactively. This approach is unique in that it prepares the student in more than one way for future endeavors. So not only being prepared for science class, the student will also be able to improve in skills such as articulating ideas, working with others, searching for a solution, and growing as an individual. All these skills are crucial to a successful future!

In order to ensure success for your child I hope to create a partnership for the academic year and beyond. Within the first few weeks of the school year I will be reaching out to you to discuss more in detail about this partnership. I truly believe a strong foundation can help anyone achieve greatness.

Please feel free to contact me in the meantime with any questions or concerns. I can be reached at 843-782-0031 x 52206 or

I look forward to an exciting and successful year!

Best,

Madeline Brawley
