College of Science & Technology Poster Printing Instructions

Please contact the Dean’s office prior to printing a poster. This will help eliminate congestion and allow us to immediately contact you with any questions.

1.  Save file as a PDF (because other files are not easily recognized by the printer, PDF files appear to print easier)

a.  NOTE: Some technical posters with various formulas do print better from a Power Point file – this is an option.

2.  Open file and select Print under File option. Choose HP Designjet 510 from Printer drop-down menu

3.  Click Properties

4.  Paper/Quality tab: Click Custom button under “Paper Options/Size Is”. Enter desired width/height (max. dimensions = 42” X 56”). Click OK.

5.  Check “Autorotate” box (Do not change the roll size).

6.  Click Effects tab.

7.  Check “Print Document On” circle (dimensions entered will appear).

8.  Click Services tab. Click Troubleshoot Software Problems box. Check “Send Job as a Bitmap” box. Click OK.

9.  Click OK to finalize properties.

10. On the right hand side, there is a thumbnail image of the poster updated with the appropriate changes. If the poster does not look correct, the following options under “Page Size & Handling” may help:

a.  Make sure the appropriate Orientation option is chosen.

b.  Fit: “Fits” poster into area provided. (Warning: this option might change dimensions; do not print unless the poster appears to be correct)

c.  Shrink Oversized Pages: If poster is getting cut off, this option might be able to help adjust the size. (Warning: this option might change dimensions; do not print unless the poster appears to be correct).

d.  Choose paper source by PDF page size: Takes the original PDF document size and adjusts the poster to the scale of the poster printer’s paper. Warning: this option might change dimensions; do not print unless the poster appears to be correct).

11. NOTE: Do not close poster file until printing has been completed!

12. All posters can be picked up in the Dean’s office – Caputo 206
