  1. GENERAL DEFINITIONS

1.1.the College – Waterberg FET College

  1. PURPOSE

The purpose of the certification policy and procedures is to outline clear and effective arrangements to ensure that the integrity of the certification process is not compromised.

This implies effective mechanisms to quality assure the processing and issuing of certificates and effective security measures to avoid fraud or illegal issuing of certificates.

  1. POLICY STATEMENT

3.1.The College assumes full responsibility for issuing of College certificates.

3.2.The College is issuing the following certificates after it is received from various stakeholders:

3.2.1.NATED: N1-N6 certificates

3.2.2.Diplomas

3.2.3.National Certificate (Vocational) Level 2 and 3 DHET Certificate and Level 4 Umalusi Certificate.

3.3.The College is producing College certificates for the following programmes:

3.3.1.Skills programmes - Mechanical- and Electrical Engineering, Clothing Production

3.3.2.Learnerships

3.3.3.Projects (Attendance Certificates)

3.3.4.ICDL (International Computer Drivers License)

  1. REQUIREMENTS TO BE COMPLIED WITH BY STUDENTS FOR CERTIFICATION

The awarding of certificates will be based on students satisfying the requirements of both internal and external assessment.

  1. FORMAT OF THE CERTIFICATE

5.1.All certificates will be issued in English

5.2.College certificates will meet the College requirements by including the following information on the face:

5.2.1.Full name of the Learner (First name/s followed by the surname);

5.2.2.Identity number of the Learner;

5.2.3.Date certificate is issuedor period of attendance;

5.2.4.The College logo;

5.2.5.Alpha Certification logo;

5.2.6.Name and level of qualification;

5.2.7.Credit value/s (if applicable)

5.2.8.Signature of the CEO

5.2.9.The specific unit standards/course content, for which the student has been granted achievement, printed on the back of the certificate.

  1. SIGNATORIES AND SIGNATURES

6.1.The signature of the CEO will be on all College certificates

  1. ISSUING OF CERTIFICATES

7.1.Quality Assurancereceives electronically all names from Centres for College certificates to be printed.

7.1.1.Name lists must be signed off by the Centre Manager/Lecturer/Exam Office to verify correctness before certificates will be issued.

7.1.2.List for certificates to be printed must be forwarded to Quality Assurance at least 2 weeks before the certificates are required.

7.2.Quality Assuranceprints certificates and returns it to Centres whereby the assigned person at the Centre responsible for certificates, record and issue certificates.

7.3.Certificates must be issued one month after results has been released.

  1. RE-PRINTING CERTIFICATES

8.1.Certificate reprints will only be done in the case of faulty information on certificates. In such cases the original certificates must be returned to the Quality Assurance Manager with the accompanying request for re-printing.

8.2.Certificates will be reprinted at a fee of R25 as a result of learner negligence or loss of a certificate.

  1. RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY

9.1.Chief Executive Officer:

9.1.1.The CollegeChief Executive Officer (CEO) has the responsibility and authority to ensure that the provisions in the procedure are adhered to.

9.2.Quality Assurance Manager:

9.2.1.The Quality Assurance Manager has the responsibility and authority to:

9.2.2.Implement the procedure.

9.2.3.Regularly monitor adherence to the procedure.

9.2.4.Ensure that any changes to the procedure are processed correctly.

9.2.5.Coordinate the annual review of the procedure.
