College Application Process FAQ

College Application Process FAQ:

I want to go to college, but am not sure where I want to apply or what I want to major in- what can I do?
Visit colleges, utilize college search/career inventory/etc. tools on Naviance, job shadowing, ask friends and family, meet with your school counselor

Are fee waivers available for college applications?
Yes- please see your school counselor to see if you qualify

How do I get my transcript sent to a college?
Submit a green consent for transcript release form to the Guidance Office if you have not done so already and then log into your Naviance account and request the transcript. (If you misplaced your copy of the directions please visit the Guidance website or come to the office).

How does a college get my ACT/SAT scores?
Some institutions will take scores right off a transcript while others require that scores come directly from the testing agency (ACT/SAT). Visit the university’s website to find out their policy. Roosevelt automatically includes your ACT/SAT test scores on your transcript unless you specifically ask us to take them off. If you need to send scores directly from ACT/SAT you can log back into your test account and request that they get sent to the colleges, but there is a fee with this. We recommend, especially for seniors, that if you are still taking an ACT you select colleges up front when you register to receive your scores.

Can I submit my portion of the application before the deadline or before my transcript and/or letters of recommendation are sent?
YES and YES!

When I worked on my college application there was a university specific form they said to bring to my school counselor, what should I do?
Please bring it in!
