COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
January 6, 2012
Email sent to senior parents and all Allen County Exchange Users on Friday, January 6, 2012
The deadline for college scholarships is fast approaching. If you have a child planning to apply for scholarship to WKU or UK, please pay close attention to this email.
WKU academic scholarships must be postmarked by January 15, 2012. This is a Sunday, so the applications will actually have to be mailed by Saturday. Applications are available online at , and I also have applications available in the guidance office. The students must turn in the applications to me to complete Section II of the application. I will complete the section and return to the students for them to mail. I'll also complete a transcript and give to them. The absolute last date for the students to give the applications to me is Thursday, January 12. I will return all applications to the students by Friday, January 13. I'll be working on these starting today and will return just as soon as I have them completed. My point is, the students need to get busy now and not wait until the last minute!!!!!!
UK academic scholarships must be postmarked by Friday, January 13, 2012. They are available online at , and I also have these applications available in the guidance office. I do not, however, have to complete anything for the seniors for this application. If the senior needs an updated transcript, please have them see me.
Both of these scholarships are overall scholarships for these colleges. These applications will allow them to be eligible for several scholarships from the colleges. If students are interested, they must apply now.
The Laura Goad Turner Foundation also offers the Service First Scholarship for students planning to attend WKU. Students must complete the WKU scholarship application and complete a list of service activities. This list of service must be turned in to me by 12 noon on Friday, January 13, 2012. This is an excellent scholarship opportunity, but I must have the list of service in order for the student to be eligible.
Another WKU scholarship is the Todd Gibbs scholarship. Interested students must complete the WKU scholarship applicationas well as an essay explaining some type of hardship they have overcome. The essay should be typed and entitled Todd Gibbs Scholarship. This essay will be returned to WKU along with the scholarship application.
