Selection Process Information Sheet

As an entry-level applicant for the position of Police Officer with the Colchester Police Department, there is certain information we would like you to be aware of:

The Colchester Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Reserve Police Officer. It is anticipated that the selection process will begin on July, 2011.

The Colchester Police Department does not currently have any vacancies, but your application will be kept on file for one year. If any vacancies occur, you will be notified to determine if you still have an interest in the position.

The selection process for the Colchester Police Department is designed to be a fair and equitable process to find the best possible candidates to serve the Town of Colchester. The selection process consists of the following steps:

∙ Administrative Review

∙ Hiring

Guidelines for reapplication and re-testing, to aid you in understanding the process, are outlined below:

∙ An applicant who fails the written test will not be allowed to continue in

the process. They may re-take the written test the next time it is given,

but will not be in consideration for the process in which they failed the

test.

∙ Applicants who fail any of the testing may re-apply for the next selection

process.

∙ Those candidates who are determined to be ineligible for appointment

as a probationary officer shat be notified, in writing, within 30 days of

such decision.

∙ Candidates who are ineligible for appointment as a result of a single

test, examination, interview or investigation, shall be notified of the

reason, in writing, within 30 days of such decision.
