ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MONDAY 22ND AUGUST 7.30pm

Minutes from previous Annual General Meeting read out and moved.

Business arising from previous minutes:

  • KFC Sponsorship was established instead of Sungold Milk. Craig Hosking was extremely happy with the promotion and publicity KFC received.

Finance Report was distributed by Treasurer Jarrod Hay. Current balance of $16,741.08.

President’s Report was read out by Phil Lang:

  • Successful season overall
  • 34 teams entered
  • Division 1 final exiting finish before large crowd
  • Congratulations to City United, Tomahawk Creek & Otway for premiership wins and Warrion for T20 win
  • Premier match between Casey South Melbourne & Richmond and local T20 final a success
  • Country week finished with a 2 & 2 record. Thanks to captain Leighton Hart and Matt Hanks as manager.
  • Thanks to KFC as naming rights sponsor
  • Thanks to Colac Herald and 3CS/Mixx FM for their support. In particular Aiden Fawkes, Matt Murnane, Nick Hay & Jock Brady
  • Thanks to umpires for their contribution
  • Thanks to the executive members for their contribution, particularly in relation to producing a new constitution, codes of conduct and playing rules
  • Thanks to Colac Otway Shire for new concrete pitch and winter cover at Western Oval
  • Clubs must be incorporated and insured to participate in the association
  • New board will have 11 members including one umpire representative with full voting rights
  • Mycricket will be used for result keeping in all grades
  • Question mark over 8 team division 1 competition this season
  • Central reserve turf will not be utilised this season and may be removed when the redevelopment occurs
  • T20 competition is proposed to be a Sunday / midweek competition. The redeveloped Lake Oval is central to this

Election of Office Bearers

Phil Lang was re-elected as President

Nick Hay was elected as Vice-President

Jarrod Hay was re-elected as Treasurer

David Treweek was re-elected as Secretary

Other member elected on the Board are: David Oborne, Michael Rafaniello, Leighton Hart, Dale Menzies, Cliff Cardinal, Doug Shone & Russell Adams as the umpire representative.

Incoming correspondence was discussed:

  • Cricket Victoria has two grants recently opened. One for general facilities upgrades and one for Water Conservation. This information will be sent to all clubs. More information can be found on the Cricket Victoria web page.

Russell Adams gave a report on the Umpires Association

  • Numbers are likely to be the same as last year. One retiree and one new umpire
  • It would be good if we could lure some ex players to help out.
  • There was a good response amongst the umpires regarding the new constitution and rules.

General Business

  • Darren Balderas (Lorne-Aireys Inlet): more than likely won’t be having a team this year. Lost a lot of players from last season. If we do have a team, it will be at division 3 level. Also thanks to the league last season for their perseverance regarding our division 3 side last season.
  • Rob Oborne mentioned that the umpires dressed in the blue shirts looked very good and thanks to hip-pocket for their sponsorship with this.
  • Phil Lang mentioned the starting date for matches is likely to be the 22nd of October
  • Phil introduced the new constitution and playing rules
  • Matt Hanks mentioned that they are very clear & concise. Looks great.
  • The main changes are the bowling table for lost time, set penalties in the constitution. Clubs will need to get captains to read and umpires will need to read also prior to start of season.
  • The Executive put forward a motion that the new constitution, playing rules and policies be adopted by the Colac & District Cricket Association. 2nd Colac. All in favour, motion carried.
  • The Executive will be now known as the Board of Management.
  • Clubs were reminded to hand in their Club Details of Office Bearers and team entries prior to departing.
