Knowledge / Aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic information about methodology of experimental studies in animal science; including field, genetic and cellular research, design of experiments with animal animals and animal-derived material, designing laboratory analyses.
Skills / On successful completion of the course student will be able to prepare an experimental design to verify scientific hypothesis, critically discuss results of the experiment, design practical experiment according to good laboratory practice.
Competences / On successful completion of the course student will be competent to identify methods and techniques suitable for accurate design of a study involving animals and animal-derived material on different levels, in field, in vitro, in situ.

Seminars / Different examples of research on animal model in vivo and in vitro; design andmethodology of research in accordance with a rule of 3Rs; Rules for sampling of animal-derived material; Animal in field trials; Animal in vitro trials; Statistical approach in different types of analysis; Processing of the animal samples, including cells, DNA, RNA and protein isolation; qualitative and quantitative evaluation of nucleic acids
Laboratories/Workshop / Tools, methods of analyses and protocols used in animal field study; Methods, types of analyses and protocols used in animal in vitro study; Technical procedures for sampling and processing of animal-derived samples; Designing molecular protocols for different types of analyses including genetic, cell, protein, histological analysis, production traits, phenotypes;
