Students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree are required to complete a mathematics sequence which includes MATH 160 (Calculus) and a minimum of twelve (12) hours of upper division (300 level or higher) credits in mathematics or the sciences. MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Interdisciplinary Studies is to provide a unique academic program that offers highly motivated and intellectually curious students the opportunity to develop an individualized, innovative and integrated major. As an alternative to a traditional major, self-directed students are engaged and mentored by faculty to build a concentration on the basis of an interrelated unifying issue, topic, theme, culture, or personal inquiry.
CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS
ü The completion of 15 semester hours is required and the completion of 30 semester hours is recommended before filing an application to the program. A minimum 2.0 GPA is required.
ü The completion of 120 semester credit hours with a minimum 2.0 GPA. The last 30 credits before graduation must be registered for and completed after acceptance into the program.
ü Students must receive a grade of C or better in ENGL 101, 290, 390 or 459. A grade of C or better must also be earned by the student in all Foundation Courses and Major Requirements.

PERSONAL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
In a detailed (typed) statement of purpose, provide the following information.
a) Describe how completing an interdisciplinary degree will assist you in your academic pursuits & career goals.
b) Explain why a conventional degree is not being sought and why your proposed program of study is unique.
c) Explore the common thread that connects the multiple disciplines you intend to integrate into your program.
STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY: I fully understand that the Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies is an individualized program of study. I also understand that admission to the program is neither automatic nor complete until my application has been reviewed, revised, and approved by the University Interdisciplinary Studies Committee.
After my program has been approved, I accept complete responsibility for the successful completion of all degree requirements. I also understand that I must submit any requests for changes to my approved BAIS / BSIS program through the Academic Advisor for consideration. I accept that proposed changes to the program are not guaranteed.
