Position context

CAADA

Domestic abuse is a widespread and complex social problem. It accounts for 16% of violent crime and for the death of 2 women each week. CAADA is a national second-tier domestic abuse charity working to save lives by transforming the way victims are supported. Our goals are to:

  • halve the number of high risk victims of domestic abuse from 100,000 to 50,000
  • halve the number of children harmed by high risk domestic abuse from 130,000 to 65,000
  • halve the length of time it takes to find effective help from 5 years to 2.5 years.

This post is in the Research and Evaluation team. CAADA has an unparalleled track record of using evidence and research to effect national change. One of our strategic aims supporting this is to create the foremost evidence base on ‘what works’ for victims of domestic abuse. This information is used to set our policy messages, define our strategy, design our services and evidence the impact of the work we have done. Our research programme includes:

  • Multi-site, multi-method evaluations to evidence the impact of innovative new interventions
  • Insights – a pioneering outcome measurement service which is embedded in front line services and used by practitioners, funders and policy makers to magnify their impact
  • Specialist, in-depth research programmes such as our Themis project on the impact of hospital-based Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs)
  • Analysing the impact of local services in identifying and supporting young people living with abuse, through CAADA’s new Young People’s Violence Advocacy Programme
  • Evaluations of specialist domestic violence services carried out on a consultancy basis
  • Internal evaluations
  • Cost benefit analysis
