Final Reflection: Rubric

Your final Reflection will be evaluated on its overall effectiveness as a piece of communication, and particularly on its compliance with the General and Specific Requirements outlined in Guidelines document. Those requirements ask you to:

Provide information and context about your workplace

  1. Describe a brief description of where you worked, your role and what you did in the workplace. Specify whether your role changed since the Midterm Reflection.
  1. Provide some brief context about your workplace by describing types of co-workers (i.e., students, managers, and/or partners) and whether you worked alone or as part of a team and your role within the team, its size and make-up.

Address the required theme

  1. In relation to thereflection’s required theme (i.e. teamwork, oral communication, written communication, and leadership), respond to each prompt focusing onwhat you have learned since your Midterm Reflection.
  1. Respond to your personal question related to the required theme, from your Midterm Reflection.
  1. Comment on the feedback received from the reviewer of your Midterm Reflection(Failure to complete a mid-term reflection will result in a mark no higher than Very Good.)
  1. Provide a piece of advice related to the theme.
  1. Talk about the most valuable learning experience in terms of the theme, from your program to-date. This can be from your studies or from your job, or both.

Employer feedback

  1. Include your employer’s final evaluation and refer to and comment on this evaluation in your Reflection. (Failure to include your employer’s final evaluation will result in a mark no higher than Very Good).

Future plans

  1. Looking forward, identify what you would like to improve in terms of the required theme and how, specifically, you hope to achieve these improvements and growth.

Offer a brief wrap-up to conclude the Reflection.

  • The brief description of the workplace and your role has depth and focus.
  • Reference is made to growth/change since the mid-term reflection.
  • Feedback from the mid-term reflection is discussed and integrated.
  • The final evaluation from the employer is included.
  • All requirements are thoroughly addressed with appropriate insights provided.
  • The reflection demonstrates that situations/viewpoints have been analyzed thoroughly. Conclusions have been communicated efficiently and effectively, and you have shown the ability to fully integrate information/feedback.

Excellent /
  • The brief description of the workplace and your role is relatively clear but could have more focus.
  • Reference is made to growth/change since the mid-term reflection.
  • Feedback from the mid-term reflection is discussed.
  • The final evaluation from the employer is included.
  • All requirements are clearly addressed.
  • The reflection demonstrates that the situations/viewpoints have been addressed. You have attempted to communicate conclusions and you somewhat integrated information/feedback.

Very Good /
  • The brief description of the workplace and your role is given, with little focus.
  • Reference to the mid-term reflection may or may not be present.
  • The final evaluationfrom the employer is not included.
  • Mostrequirements are clearly addressed.
  • The reflection demonstrates that the analysis of situations and others’ viewpoints may be biased. You have attempted to communicate some conclusions and integration of information and feedback.

Good /
  • The brief description of the workplace and your role is adequate but superficial.
  • No reference is made to the mid-term reflection.
  • The final evaluation from the employer is not included.
  • Most requirements are somewhat addressed.
  • The reflection demonstrates that some situations and viewpoints have been somewhat addressed but may be biased. You have suggested some conclusions, and identified some information and feedback.

Satisfactory /
  • Minimal brief description of the workplace and your role is given.
  • No reference is made to the mid-term reflection.
  • The final evaluation from the employer is not included.
  • Some requirements are somewhat addressed.
  • The reflection demonstrates that a biased viewpoint has been presented, one conclusion has been put forward, and little information/feedback has been included.

Unsatisfactory /
  • The description of the workplace and your role is so poor there is little idea of the nature of your placement.
  • No reference is made to the mid-term reflection.
  • The final evaluation from the employer is not included.
  • One or two requirements are somewhat addressed.
  • The reflection demonstrates that the viewpoint presented is not consistent with any of the discussion, and that you have little understanding of the value of reflection.

Re-submit /
  • There is no description of your workplace or role.
  • No reference is made to the mid-term reflection.
  • The final evaluation from the employer is not included.
  • Most requirements are missing.
  • There is no depth to the reflection, with no ability to draw any conclusion based on the brief discussion.

You will receive credit for the work term based on any evaluation except Unsatisfactory or Re-submit.

A Re-submit evaluation needs to be completed by the time frame provided by the Evaluator, in order for an evaluation to be assigned.
