Clubs & Societies Grant applications process
The criteria for applying for a budget
Clubs/Societies apply for a grant to support their activities by completing an online application that has specific areas where financial support can be provided. Clubs/Society need to consider the most suitable category according to how they wish to spend their grant money.
Clubs/Societies need to justify the amount requested by proving the need or that the SU/Warwick Sport cannot provide the resource/service or support that they would like to purchase. This also needs to demonstrate that it supports their primary purpose as stated in their constitution.
The categories used for awarding Grants for Societies:
- Admin (Printing costs & administration resources)
- Capital Expenditure (items that cost in excess of £3,000)
- Non-Capital Expenditure (General resources that are required to ensure that the Society is functional and can enable members to gain the full knowledge or experience.
- Affiliations (National Governing Bodies/Associations/Memberships)
The categories used for awarding Grants for Sports Clubs:
- Admin (Printing costs & administration resources)
- Coaching (Subsidy towards paying for Sports Coaching)
- Training (Clubs can receive a maximum of £500 towards their training costs)
- Transport (non-BUCS – Only allocated transport grant for one regularly competing team or one competition. This is a subsidy)
- Entry Fees (non-BUCS - Only allocated entry funding for one regularly competing team or one competition. This is a subsidy)
- Affiliations (National Governing Bodies/Associations/Memberships. This is for Clubs only, not individuals. Full funding allocated)
- Insurance (Clubs who need specialist insurance outside of the SU’s cover will receive a subsidy)
- Facilities (Off Campus Clubs only)
- Equipment Purchase (Must be able to gain insurance, storage & the equipment must be available/accessible to all members)
- Equipment Maintenance (Equipment that needs to be maintained/serviced regularly to ensure the lifespan)
The process and the timings
- The budget assessment panel for Society budgets consists of the Societies Officer and the three Societies Co-ordinators
- The Societies budget assessment panel convened to make decisions on the following occasions: Tuesday 23rd May 2017, Thursday 1st June & Wednesday 7th June 2017.
- The budget assessment panel for Sports Clubs budgets consists of the Sports Officer, the Sports Coordinators & the Club Development Officer.
- The Sports Clubs budget assessment panel convened to make decisions on the following occasions: Tuesday 2nd & Wednesday 3rd May 2017.
