This program was started last fall as an affordable, extracurricular foreign language program and due to popularity it is back.Next year this grant will continue the Spanish/English educational opportunity for elementary age students and their caregivers and expand instruction to older and more advanced participants. Club Espanol will offer level 1 for beginning K-3rd students for 90 minutes weekly at Barbara Morgan Elementary School and level 2 for advanced beginner students in grades 4-6 for 90 minutes weekly at Payette Lakes Middle School. Finding the Heart(land) in STEM Education Part II - MOSS, Heartland High School

The University of Idaho McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS), has been working with McCall-Donnelly students since 2005. This grant allows continuation of an outdoor, place-based STEM program for Heartland High School students first piloted in 2014. The 1-credit program will count towards students’ graduation requirements. $4373 MDEF REP: Jonas Bean

Hometown Art, Public Art Project - Cynthia Dittmer and Alison Foudy.

This project will involve students from McCall Donnelly High School, Barbara Morgan Elementary School and Donnelly Elementary School to create public art and associated writings that will revolve around a theme of “Hometown Art.”Actual art works and written work will be created over the course of the school year and completed by March 2015 with a culminating exhibition and celebration. An exhibition catalog will be created using InDesign and art works will be professionally photographed and printed on self-adhesive vinyl to be installed at bus shelters as temporary public art works. $4700 MDEF REP: Nancy Krahn

EspanolRapido - Jake Olson, Donnelly Elementary School, 120 K-5 students.

EspanolRapido seamlessly integrates innovative and fun Spanish language activities into the school day through 15 minute language lessons, 4 times a week, in every classroom. Currently there is no foreign language in grade K-5, and nationally Idaho ranks in the bottom five of states offering foreign language in the elementary school.$5760 MDEF REP: Bob Hallock

Little Ski Hill After School Program - Little Ski Hill, Colby Neilsen.

This creative after school program makes it affordable for many youth in our area to learn to ski or snowboard. It includes instruction, a locker, gear, a ski pass and free bus transport from school. No child is turned away from this program so our funds help those students who can’t afford to participate otherwise. Over 550 volunteer hours also make this program a reality for the January/February time frame and has a tremendous mentor component. Expanding Horizons Program - Payette Lakes Community Association, George Pool.

Payette Lakes Community Association is a non-profit organization that provides an after school enrichment and academic support program for the students of Barbara Morgan Elementary School.The program focuses on healthier lifestyles, first-hand curricular experiences as well as ecological education, science and community. This grant will provide new noteworthy components such as Outdoor Activities and Ecological Education, Science and Engineering, Academics, Life Skills, Lifetime Sports, Cultural Enrichment and Community Service and Arts and Crafts.$1500 MDEF REP: Kathy Poston

Nordic Ski Program - Kelly O’Connell, Donnelly Elementary School.

Seventy five 3rd-5th graders will have Nordic equipment to supplement their outdoor adventure program in their PE classes at Donnelly Elementary School. The purpose of that program is to introduce the students to lifetime sports as well as activities children do with their families. The ever popular units expose children to biking, kayaking, golfing, alpine skiing andnow Nordic skiing. $5,500 MDEF REP: David Carey

Winter Survival:It’s Not Just About Keeping Warm -Susan Buescher, Payette Lakes Middle School.

To boost the biennial Winter Survival Day, where students get basic winter survival skills, students will now have access to 30 new pairs of snowshoes in their PE classes. This will expand the fitness activities offered to approximately 235 Payette Lakes Middle School students. The gear can also be shared with the students at Barbara Morgan Elementary School when needed.$2050 MDEF REP: Terry Avitable

Children’s Theater, Tracey Kindall, McCall Arts and Humanities Council.

The MAHC’s Children’s Theater program will offer two 6-week after school theater workshops for students in grades 4 through 8, twice weekly 3:15 to 5:15—one in the fall, and one in the spring. Students will receive experiential education in acting, improvisation, verbal and non-verbal communication, and teamwork. Workshops will be supplemented by auditions and a full 8-week theatrical production culminating in 6 performances during the winter. This program will also serve to pull together students, educators, parents and community organizations. Overall, 60 students will be directly involved and up to 300 participants indirectly impacted by performances throughout the district. $2126 MDEF REP: TBD
