1. It’s a 38ºC day and your dad’s working dog is looking weak and disoriented after mustering cattle. His breathing is loud and strained. / a. Restrain and calm the animal. Apply a pressure bandage to the injury and contact a veterinarian.
2. Young puppy is vomiting blood and is very weak. Rat sack was put out in the garden shed a week ago. / b. If possible, apply a light bandage around the wound and keep the animal as quiet as possible. Seek veterinary attention.
3. A galah in your backyard has an injured wing, hanging at an awkward angle. It bites and will not let you pick it up. / c. Contact veterinarian immediately. Take any evidence of poison with you to get. Keep animal comfortable and quiet.
4. Filly was frightened by a gunshot and ran into a barb wire fence. She has deep lacerations and bleeding on her foreleg. / d. Contact WIRES to catch the animal and seek veterinary assistance.
5. A cat jumped out of a tree and cut her abdomen badly on a sharp branch. There is a gaping wound with flesh and fat protruding. / e. Comfort the animal in a cool place and wet down with damp towels and cold packs. Contact veterinarian.
