Worthington OHSun Co-op– Craig reported on Community Power Network’s OHSun co-op offering an estimated 20% savings on solar installations for homeowners within 10 miles of Worthington which includes Clintonville. They have 40 residents signed up so far and have issued an RFP for installers to respond to. The group discussed some issues and unknowns on this like what will this do for local installers, Third Sun has gotten all bids so far, $500 of each home project goes to OHSun, looks like $2.60 per watt in terms of basic costs, do workers earn a living wage on this, could get people excited about solar, Craig thinks it’s a good RFP so far, homeowners make the final decisions and Craig is involved. For more info contact Craig or see Energy (DE - Suzanne and Dave) is wanting to work with local installers to help enhance local installer businesses. This may or may not happen through the OHSun projects. Also, both Craig and John McDermott have shared info on very low cost loans for installs or energy efficiency using Ecolink- - .89% interest on a 7 year loan at Key Bank.

Design Energy(DE) and CEC - Related to the above, the group discussed the fact that CEC installations, at this time, cannot happen without DE leadership and expertise. Craig and Julie will work with Suzanne to develop a proposal for a fee structure (possibly to share at the Sept. 12 CEC mtg.) so that Design Energy receives a fee for assisting homeowners with their project.Karen suggested possibly a tiered model depending on how involved DE is.Also, Suzanne will be sending some CEC folks invoices for project costs that DE has picked up lately.

Project Updates:

  1. Julie and Elizabeth shared a great singing video about their completed project – CEC’s third!!! Their final costs were $2 per watt for just the solar installation and $2.38 if you include electrical updates and the trellis.
  2. Dan Turner–Dan is moving ahead and may or may not be using CEC.
  3. Dan Brilhart –Received his building and electrical permit approvals, looking for a fall installation and will be contacting folks about their involvement. Installation days need to be focused and closely monitored and not open to observers.
  4. General – Carl Wetherholt needs to invoice several homeowners for his work with them on structural work. Some folks could build a practice roof model for CEC to train folks on.

Aug. 20 CrestFest – CEC will have a booth at the Sat. Aug. 20 event on Crestview from 11am – 5:30pm. Debbie will send out a separate schedule to everyone who agreed to help set up, tear down, etc.Karen, Debbie and Bobby will buy or make a CEC table banner.Heavy items should be delivered to Diane’s house 86 Crestview before 9am due to road closure.

Treasurer's Report: Karen reported $612 in the bank, received $75, so we’re at about $700. The group OKd costs for a CEC table sign for CrestFest.

Paw Paw Festival – Sept. 24 – we’ll see how it goes as several folks said the festival is very small and may not be worth having a booth.
