Eugene Beer discussion on solar panels from donations:

Someone donating 50,000 small panels to non-profits across the world. Takes 80 of the small panels to get 2.7 kw system. Company is Sun Electronics . They buy panels from auctions. Many are used. Eugene got some manufactured by Sharp (made in China). Grade “B” means slight imperfections (some cloudiness, etc.) but they perform to spec.

MORPC symposium:

John McDermott, Eugene, and Suzanne attended. Eugene impressed with the quality of the presentation. Eugene has Dr. Lonnie Thompson’spowerpoint and will send out to who requests it.

Eugene suggested that we should look into the 2017AEP rebate program. Columbia gas has a comparable program as well.

John M. stated some stats he got from MORPC:

US transportation has overtaken electricity usages as the biggest GHG emitter.

Germany will ban combustion engine cars after 2030.

Denmark currently only sells electric vehicles.

Bobby has for contact info of person who recycles electronics in Columbus.

Design Energy (DE)proposal update:

Suzanne: Trying to get the group process so we can move along.

Creating several options for people to choose from to work with them. (design, design& install, etc.)They will get the proposal to CEC soon.

Planning for 2017 charrette:

We need to study how tohave our 2017 charrette, depending on how we will work with DE.

We remember that we had a goal of having 10 projects this year, and we have not done that.

Discussion on whether to have charrette or not, and about having community meetings. Suggested we need both. We are early adopters, and solar knowledge is very low in the population.

Suggested to have a community meeting to get people for the charrette. We are not having a charrette for 2 people.

Debbie suggests a community meeting in March for a possible charrette to follow.

Debbie and Andrea are going to begin planning the 2017 events.

Training roof model:

Debbie suggested that we create a small roof model so people can get hands-on building and see how roof arrays get constructed. People who will volunteer to build this:

Bobby Jones (will supply most of the tools as well)

John McDermott

Brian Brown

Joe Marek

Project updates:

Dan Turner - Design Energy will be working with Dan to install his array.

Dan Brilhart -is holding off for a new inverter that will be available next year. It features a smoother sine wave, and has an AC plug-in for if grid fails.

Website:

Greg will add functionality to our website so dues-paying members can view members’ contact info.

Treasurer’s Report:
