Learning Objectives:By the end of the workshop
participants will:
- Identify the specialized skills needed to promote the optimal professional development of clinical practitioners in the human services fields of Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling and Professional Counseling.
- Distinguish the various functions of the Clinical Supervisor in the context of the professional development of practitioners in a variety of human services settings.
- Have a working knowledge of the codes of ethics related to clinical supervision as well as the various certifications that promote quality assurance and ethical processes in the area of clinical supervision.
Clinical Supervision of Post-Degree Human Services Professionals: Useful Models and
Conceptualizations
When: Tuesday 12/4/2012; 9:00 am- 5:00 pm
Learning Objectives: By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Identify at least five key models of clinical supervision as well as the basic tenets, advantages and disadvantages and the research base for each model.
- Have a working knowledge of the professional developmental process that human services professionals exhibit and will be able to identify key supervisor interventions and skills that match the level or phase of supervisee development.
- Identify key aspects and characteristics of a healthy working supervisory alliance that promotes optimal development of a post-degree human services professional
Clinical Supervision of Post-Degree Human Services Professionals: The Supervisory Relationship, Dealing
with Resistance, Anxiety and Other Issues
When: Tuesday 1/22/2013; 9:00 am- 5:00 PM
Learning Objectives: By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Increase in working knowledge and understanding of the supervisee factors that impact the health of the supervisory alliance such as resistance, anxious or avoidant attachment, anxiety, supervisee transference, and others.
- Understand the inherent supervisor factors that contribute to stress on the supervisory alliance or relationship such as supervisor attachment style, interpersonal power dynamics and supervisor counter-transference.
- Identify at least three out of five interventions that can be enacted during clinical supervision to assist the supervisee in moving through supervisee factors and in growing further in professional development
When: 2/26/2013; 9:00 am- 5:00 PM
Learning Objectives: By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Be able to identify the difference between summative versus formative feedback in clinical supervision.
- Be able to distinguish between the roles and functions of administrative supervision versus clinical supervision.
- Be able to assist a supervisee in identifying and prioritizing professional development and clinical skill building objectives.
- Be able to identify appropriate tools and strategies to evaluate the competency of a supervisee.

Participants will:
- Have a greater understanding of the parts of the
clinical supervision.
- Increase in awareness of the possible ethical
of clinical supervision
- Have used an ethical dilemma resolution process

Lois A. Pessolano Ehrmann PhD, LPC
Founder & director of CHOICES, Lois has 20 years of professional counseling experience. She continues to researchthe treatment of wounded individuals & families through a holistic program of care & holds the following credentials: Registered ATTACh Clinician, Certified IFS (CSL)Therapist, Certified EMDR Clinician (EMDRIA), Neurofeedback trained (BCIA Cert. pending), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) & National Certified Counselor (NCC). Lois also teaches at Penn State in the Department of Counselor Education & Supervision, Rehabilitation/ Human Services. In the most recentyears of teaching she has focused on skill developmentin Masters level counselors and clinical supervisionskills for doctoral level professional helpers.
