CONTEST SCHEDULE

NOTE: All contests as listed are in groups on the various levels. These groups are designed to give each panel of judges an opportunity to hear students at several levels of language study. The first listed contest begins at 10:00 am, and the other contests follow sequentially. In each contest, each student will recite the mandatory selection, and the cycle will be repeated for the second selections.

After you have completed the registration, please check the attached Contest Schedule to see what time you will be competing. Report to the waiting room with the room assignment slip first. The first competition in each Contest Room will begin at 10:00 am sharp. It is important for you to be in the designated Contest Waiting Room 10 or 15 minutes before your contest.

Contestants will not be permitted to hear other contestants reciting the mandatory selection. They may, however, listen to their competitors' second selections.

REFRESHMENTS:

Refreshments are located on the first floor of Daniel Hall. This is also the place for socialization and conversation.

CONTEST WAITING ROOMS:

There is a special Waiting Room for each contest category. Report to your Waiting Room at least ten minutes before your contest is scheduled. Clemson Student and Faculty Aides will escort each contestant to the appropriate Contest Room at the proper time. In each contest each participant will first recite the mandatory selection in the order listed in the attached program, and then this same group in the same order will recite their second selection. After one contest group has recited both poems in this manner, the next contest will begin.

CONTEST ROOMS:

You will be escorted to the Contest Room at the proper time, and your name will be announced as you enter. After reciting the mandatory poem, return to the Waiting Room and wait until the time for your second selection. You may listen to your opponents’ second selection, but not the mandatory selection.

Note: Please be very quiet in the halls so that everyone will have a fair chance to perform and be heard by the judges. Waiting Rooms for parents, teachers and students who have finished competing are in rooms 102, 102A, 106, 401, and 415 and are available after 10 a.m.

LUNCH

The HARCOMBE Dining Hall will be open for lunch as well as the Food Court on the lower level of the Hendrix Student Center.
