Reading/Writing Assignments (formal lab conclusions) 5%
My grading procedures will comply with the CCISD grading policy.
Average amount of homework: @3-4 hours per week.
Materials Needed Daily: 3-ring binder, notebook paper, dividers, pencil and pen, composition notebook, charged laptop (cell phone is not a substitute)
Needed donations: aluminum foil, paper towels, kleenex
Calculator: I will have a set of graphing calculators available for use during class, but you will need a Scientific (not graphing) calculator at home for homework. You can purchase one for around $10 or download a Scientific calculator app on your laptop.
Class rules:
1. Be on time.
2. Be prepared.
3. Be respectful.
4. Do your work.
Consequences:
1. Warning (verbal warning, seat rearrangement, etc.)
2. Parent contact (phone or email).
3. Office referral
*Please note that severe or repeated offenses may result in skipping steps.
Make-up Work and Late Work:
· If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to get all work that was missed. Students may pick up missed work from the “Make-up Box” in the classroom. If you KNOW you will miss class, ask for the work before you are absent.
· District Policy on late work is as follows:
1st and 2nd day late: 75% of earned grade
3rd day late: ZERO
· When you submit late work, staple the “late work explanation ticket” to the front of the assignment. Work will ONLY be accepted either the day it is due or with a green “late work” ticket.
Tardies:
If you are NOT inside the classroom when the bell rings, you are tardy. Please go to the nearest house secretary for a tardy pass. Bring a note from the teacher/principal if you have an excuse.
Restroom/Water:
Use the provided pass. You may only go 3 times/grading period. You will not receive another pass if you lose it. If you do not use the pass at all in a grading period, you may turn it in for a ‘sweet treat’. J
Additional Policies:
· Cell phones: Cell phones and headphones are NOT allowed out during class time. They will be taken up and returned at the end of the day (not the end of the period). Repeat offenses will result in turning them in to the office. Cell phones DO NOT replace laptops!!!
· Food/Drink: Water is acceptable, unless this is abused and the privilege is taken away. Otherwise, eating or drinking of any other substance is not allowed in the classroom.
· Grading concerns: Grading concerns should be presented in a timely and private manner, rather than at the end of a grading period.
Tests:
*Tests are announced at the beginning of each unit.
*If you are absent the day before the test but show up on the day of the test, you are still required to take the test.
*If you are absent the day of the test, you will take it during class the day you return.
*All tests on scantron are taken in pencil. I will not go back over scantrons to make sure the student bubbles correctly.
*There will be no re-tests.
Labs: Plan to have a lab at least once a week. Per district safety policy, you must be in lab dress code (safety goggles, apron, long hair tied back) before you can work in lab with chemicals and/or bunsen burners. If you are not prepared for lab or are unwilling to remain prepared (taking off goggles), you will be given a zero.
Academic Integrity:
Behaviors defined as cheating (Student handbook, page 71) which will result in a zero (0).
A. Giving or receiving information, looking on someone else’s paper, or allowing someone else to see one’s paper during an exam, test or quiz.
B. Unauthorized receipt or distribution of exam, test or quiz contents, materials, or answer key.
C. Use of unauthorized resources such as notes during an exam.
D. Taking an exam, producing a project, paper or assignment for another student or asking someone to take an exam or produce a project, paper or assignment for you.
E. Copying work assigned to be done independently or letting others copy one’s work.
All backpacks, purses, etc. will be placed in the back of the room during testing. If you have a cell phone out during a test or a quiz, it will be assumed you are using it for less than honorable purposes and a zero will be given.
