CLASSROOM PROCEDURES FOR ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT CLASSES AT THE CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER
- The student will report directly to the Law Enforcement classroom upon arrival at CTC. They are not to visit their friend’s classrooms or walk their boyfriend/girlfriend to their class. Anyone who violates this rule will receive a mark on their Daily Grade sheet.
- If the student is not in the Law Enforcement classroom when the tardy bell rings the student will report to the front office and obtain a tardy slip. The only exception is a bus rider on a late bus.
- If the student needs to use the restroom theycan take the appropriate bathroom pass (male or female) if it is hanging on the hooks on the banister and go. If the pass is not there, the student will wait until the pass is returned by the student using it. If it is an emergency, contact the instructor for special permission. Anyone violating this rule will receive a mark on their Daily Grade sheet and will be sent to the office for further discipline.
- When the student first arrives in the classroom they will place their three-ring-binder, pencil/pen and journal on their desk. They will place their book bag in the physical activities room and return to their seat. The only exception will be if the student needs to change into approved clothing/footwear. If that is the case, the student will change into their clothing/footwear before returning to their seat. Any violation of these directions will result in the student receiving a mark on their Daily Grade sheet.
- During all practical skill activities, safety will be the number one concern. Some of the techniques demonstrated and used by the students during practical skill testing can injure your classmates. Anyone violating established safety guidelines will receive a mark on their Daily Grade sheet, will be removed from the class and sent to the Assistant Director for further discipline.
- Break will last 15 minutes and is not a right. It is a privilege. Those who do not follow the rules can lose that privilege. The Assistant Director has stated that snacks can be brought to class and eaten only during break but must remain out of sight and inside their backpack or book carrier until break. Anyone who violates this rule will receive a mark on their Daily Grade sheet.
- During practical skill practice and physical training: bracelets, watches, ropes, long necklaces, large earrings and any other item worn, that the instructor deems as dangerous, will be removed. Any student who refuses to remove those items deemed dangerous by the instructor will be removed from the exercise and receive a mark on their Daily Grade sheet.
- Students will remain in their seats until the bells notifying the various school dismissalstimes have sounded. The student will remain inside the classroom and not wander the hallways. Anyone who violates this rule will receive a mark on their Daily Grade sheet.
- If a student is not prepared for class, whether it is a book, equipment or clothing that is required, they will receive a mark on their Daily Grade sheet. These marks will affect their Employability Rating which factors into the students quarterly grades. The student should notify the instructor if they do not have the required items with them before they are observed.
- If a student has an issue they wish to discuss in private, they should ask to speak with the Instructor alone. All issues will remain private unless they involve safety or legal issues. If the student does not feel comfortable discussing the issue with the Instructor, another member of the CTC facultywill speak with them.
- The Instructor and students will extend respect and courtesy to each other at all times. Everyone enjoys a good laugh from time to time, but when the laughter crosses over into maliciousness it will be stopped immediately. Monitor yourself and think before you speak.
- Anytime a student damages school property they are to report it to the instructor immediately. If an accident occurs that requires cleanup, the student will notify the instructor so that precautions can be taken and the accident will be cleaned up before class is excused. Failure to notify the instructor of damage to property, accidents or maintaining a clean work area will result in a mark on their Daily Grade sheet.
- All text booksthat are issued will be treated with care and common sense. Any damage to a text book will be the financial responsibility of the student and/or their parents.
- The school discipline ladder will be enforced at all times regarding discipline offenses.
