Classroom Climate and Culture:
The classroom environment appeared safe, and conducive to learning. Teacher-student interactions were friendly and demonstrated care, and respect. Students demonstrated through participation, curiosity, and attention to detail that they valued the content's importance. Standards of conduct appeared clear to all students. While working in their groups, students monitored their own and their peers' behavior, correcting one another respectfully.
Planning and Preparation:
Mrs. Prohaska displayed solid content knowledge and made connections between past and present content learned in class. The observed lesson was in a co-taught class. It was clear that quality planning and preparation took place between the two teachers because they appeared on the same page as they delivered the lesson of focus. The observed lesson appeared to be well planned. It had a clearly defined structure that activities were organized around. The tasks prepared for group work were organized and groups were managed so that most students were engaged at all times.

During the lesson observed, Mrs. Prohaskas main focus was argumentative writing. The directions and procedures were clear to students and contained an appropriate level of detail. The representation of content was appropriate and linked well with students' knowledge and experience. Most of Mrs. Prohaska's questions were of high quality and adequate time was available for students to respond. Pacing of the lesson was consistent and appropriate for all students. Transitions occurred smoothly with little loss of instructional time. Groups working independently were productively engaged at all times, with students assuming responsibility for productivity.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Assessment criteria and standards were clear and have been clearly communicated to students. Students demonstrated the skills learned when required to analyze their own, as well as other argumentative writing samples.
Professional Responsibilities:
Mrs. Prohaska seeks out opportunities for professional development to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skill. For instance, she has taken on the role along with another teacher to research and launch a hybrid course that will be offered to students next school year. She also maintains accurate records and communicates regularly with students and families.

The classroom environment appeared safe, and conducive to learning. Mrs. Prohaska demonstrated genuine care and respect for individual students. Students exhibit respect for the teacher as an individual, and their classmates. Instructional goals and activities, interactions, and the classroom environment convey high expectations for student achievement.
Planning and Preparation:
Mrs. Prohaska displayed solid content knowledge and made connections between past and present content learned in class. The observed lesson appeared to be well planned. It was clear that Mrs. Prohaska displays knowledge of students' skills and knowledge for groups of students and recognizes the value of this knowledge with the use of probing. Most of the time allocations were reasonable, however bringing students back together as a class for a check-in session when they have been give independent work time, may help to ensure that more students stay on task.

Most of the teacher's questions were of high quality. Mrs. Prohaska did a good job with probing her students to dig deeper during the classroom discussion. There was adequate time available for students to respond.

Assessment criteria and standards were clear and have been clearly communicated to students. The follow-up lesson plan reflects that students will demonstrate understanding with the final product of their argumentative paragraph that has textual evidence.

Adequate progress has been achieved in all goal areas. Mrs. Prohaska is encouraged to provide students with a student survey to gather thoughts and opinions from students to help drive instruction.

Mrs. Prohaska's students demonstrated growth on her selected student growth measurements. When looking at the grammar assessment, 22 out of 25 students saw growth. The average rate of that growth was 8.44 points. As for the Pro/Con writing assessment, 99% of students showed growth. The overall average gain using this measurement was 4.7.

Mrs. Prohaska has a sound knowledge of the curriculum and brings meaningful and engaging lessons to her students. Mrs. Prohaska is respected and appreciated by students and parents. She actively pursues professional learning and networking opportunities with colleagues and the school community. She has taken a leadership role by working with another teacher to develop and launch a hybrid course at LCHS-N.
