Technology Policy:

·  Students will not be allowed to be on social networking websites /applications or to use their laptops if the teacher has not given them permission to do so. Students who violate this rule will receive a verbal warning. If the student is found to be on the site again, the student will lose their computer privileges for the remainder of class and be issued a detention.

·  Any student who is found to visit a website with inappropriate content will receive a detention and be subject to further discipline by the administration.

·  Students are responsible for making sure their computer is charged and ready for use in class.

Tardy Policy:

·  Any student who is not in their assigned seat when the bell rings will be considered tardy to class, unless the student has a valid pass. Passes must be obtained before the student arrives to class.

·  Students will be allowed TWO “free” tardies per trimester. Any further tardies will result in a detention.

Homework Policy:

·  Assignments for the current unit can be found on the class wiki page at www.pndushistory.wikispaces.com. The assignments for the entire unit and the unit study guide will be posted on the wiki on the first day we begin the unit in class.

·  All written assignments are to be completed in ink, on loose-leaf paper (no fringe), and have a complete heading (name, date, class period, and assignment). Assignments submitted electronically should be submitted as a .pdf file and contain the student’s name and assignment name in the file name. Assignments that do not follow the given guidelines will not be graded.

·  Any assignment not turned in or posted by the given deadline will be considered late. Assignments turned in within 24 hours of the given deadline will be deducted 25%. Assignments turned in 24-48 hours after the given deadline will be marked down 50%. Assignments turned in after 48 hours of the given deadline will not be accepted. No late / absent credit is given for extra credit.

·  Any student turning in late or absent work will do so before or after class. Late or absent assignments may also be e-mailed to Mrs. Madison.

·  Your work is something to be proud of! Do not share it with other students. Any student caught giving or copying homework will receive an automatic zero and be subject to further disciplinary action. Remember that there is a difference between "working together" and "copying".

Absence Policy:

·  Whenever you are absent, check the class wiki page to see what work you missed.

·  If a student knows in advance that they will be absent (for example, a doctor's appointment or an athletic event), the student is responsible for obtaining their assignments in advance.

·  YOU and only YOU are responsible for making up missed assignments, quizzes, and tests. Please see me before or after class to schedule a time to schedule make-up work. During class is not an appropriate time to schedule make-up work. Missed quizzes and tests will be taken before or after school, not during class.

·  Any student with an excused absence, as verified by the main office, will have one day to make up assignments for each day they have been absent. Students who fail to turn in work or make up quizzes and tests within this period will be marked down according to the guidelines in the homework policy. Extended absences will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

·  Students with unexcused absences will not be given credit for missed assignments.

Hall Pass Policy:

·  Students will be allowed five hall passes per trimester.

·  Students who abuse the privilege of leaving the classroom will be restricted from doing so. These students will also lose the opportunity to earn extra credit on hall passes.

·  Students who do not use their hall passes may convert their remaining passes to extra credit at the end of the trimester. Students will be allowed four extra credit points per remaining hall pass.

·  Hall passes cannot carry over to future trimesters and cannot be used in place of tardies.

** I have thoroughly read Mrs. Madison’s classroom policies and procedures. I agree to follow these policies and procedures for the 2010-2011 school year. You do not have to detach this section to turn it in – just show it to me in class! **
