This is work assisting in the management of statewide or central office support services for an agency by managing and directing the reprographics, real property lease management, building maintenance, and custodial functions; or managing and directing the space allocation management, cafeteria and vending contract management, computer applications programming for the support services office, security, document control/records management, map and publication sales, mail room, and motor pool functions; or managing and directing the copy center/print shop and central supply functions. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Assists in the planning, organizing, supervision, and coordination of all aspects of the support services office.
  • Assists in planning and implementing the office's operating budget.
  • Develops and implements office procedures.
  • Reviews support services to ensure that activities conform with existing statutes and policies.
  • Plans for future needs or changes and implements changes as necessary.
  • Performs special assignments for the manager of the support services office by analyzing operational problems of services provided by all support services units and recommending solutions to improve support to the department.
  • Manages the document control/records management section which handles the long term retention of all department records.
  • Manages the mail center, security, and motor pool sections and map and publication sales function.
  • Manages the reprographics, building maintenance, and custodial sections.
  • Manages the copy center/print shop and central supply functions.
  • Develops and maintains policies, methodology, procedures, and criteria for the allocation and use of central office space. This will include providing direction to and coordinating the review and adoption of such with the agency's administration.
  • Establishes and maintains an inventory of facilities owned and leased by the department.
  • Provides direction, guidance, and counsel to support services office supervisors and their staff in conjunction with personnel of the Information Systems and Service office (IS&S) in the identification and development of automated solutions to support services business problems.
  • Performs computer applications programming for the support services office.
  • Administers food and vending contracts for the office.
  • Administers the real property lease management program.
