CLASS TITLE:REGIONAL MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTANT - DC

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is administrative and psychological work coordinating the delivery of mental health services for all institutions in an assigned region in the Department of Corrections. This includes monitoring and administering the delivery of mental health services at the institutional level; implementing and monitoring quality assurance programs; and ensuring that action is taken at the institutional level to correct deficiencies.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Plans, develops, implements, monitors and administers a regional mental health services program.
  • Provides clinical mental health services, including monitoring and consultation for mental health services staff in all assigned major institutions and facilities of an assigned region.
  • Develops mental health services programs to improve the nature and extent of treatment and care of inmates in all assigned major institutions and facilities.
  • Develops program policies, procedures and guidelines for staff and for contracted employees assigned in a region.
  • Assesses mental health services needs utilizing appropriate statistical data.
  • Establishes, implements and maintains an effective quality assurance program for all assigned correctional institutions and facilities in an assigned region.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Knowledge of the standards of care for persons with mental impairments.
  • Knowledge of the theories and principles of psychology.
  • Knowledge of psychological testing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Knowledge of program planning and evaluation.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A doctorate from an accredited college or university in psychology, one year of supervised internship experience in professional psychology, licensure as a Psychologist in accordance with Florida Statute 490, and three years of professional experience in psychology.
