CLASS TITLE: PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGIST III
ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)
This is highly advanced geological work requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Geologists. Duties include coordinating a statewide program in a specialized area of geology or analyzing and evaluating unique types of geologic interpretations submitted to the state or performing other comparable office, field, or laboratory work.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

- Serves as a technical advisor to governmental agencies in need of geological interpretation or policy formulation.
- Initiates, plans and designs geological research projects.
- Proposes, coordinates and participates in geological research grants, contracts, and other interagency assistance projects.
- Ensures stratigraphic, paleontologic, chronologic, and synthem nomenclature adheres to the codes as established by the North American Commission on Stratigraphic Nomenclature.
- Coordinates and participates in the review of permit requests when complex geologic data or specialized interpretations are included.
- Prepares and reviews technical reports for publication.
- Serves as program spokesman or representative regarding Florida geology and/or geological requirements of various regulatory programs.
- Signs off and seals permits, contracts, reports, and other documents which require a Professional Geologist seal for public record.
- Performs related work as required.

- Knowledge of the terminology, principles and techniques of geological research, analysis or testing.
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection.

- Ability to conduct geological research, studies or analyses using scientific methods and techniques.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Registration as a Professional Geologist in accordance with Florida Statute 492 and two years of post-registration experience.
