CLASS TITLE:PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER II

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is advanced engineering work requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers. Duties include coordinating a statewide program, serving as a technical assistant, or performing other comparable office, field, or laboratory work.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Assists in planning and designing major highway plans.
  • Assists in planning drainage structures and/or assists in planning and directing the preparation of complete bridge plans.
  • Coordinates activities for several highway and bridge construction projects, including the administration of agreements with consulting engineers.
  • Coordinates and participates in testing procedures to analyze the required function of each new product.
  • Implements and coordinates the annual statewide flexible and rigid pavement condition survey.
  • Conducts in depth compliance verification, inspections, evaluations, and processing of air permit applications to ensure enforceability.
  • Serves as assistant coordinator and regional engineer for a specialized engineering program in the enforcement of swimming pool/bathing place regulations.
  • Conducts engineering reviews of permit requests for construction seaward of established coastal construction control lines and applications for coastal construction permits.
  • Coordinates all aspects of national pollutant discharge elimination system industrial permits with the environmental protection agency and local program offices.
  • Reviews and analyzes engineering plans and specifications relating to beach erosion control restoration projects.
  • Evaluates design, materials, and installation practices of regulated gas companies cathodic protection systems.
  • Oversees construction and recommends final acceptance of projects at state parks.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Florida Statute 471 and one year of post-registration experience.
