CLASS TITLE:PLANNER III - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is advanced planning and evaluation work coordinating the development of offender rehabilitation programs for a section of the departmental planning unit; or comprehensive, professional planning work such as analyzing or evaluating land use plans, demographic and economic distributions and forecasts for major urban area projects or plans, or other comparable planning and evaluation work.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Coordinates the activities of the long-range planning section with the major program offices.
  • Coordinates the activities of the performance standards section with the major program offices.
  • Plans, coordinates and evaluates rehabilitative treatment, social service and other programs for offenders.
  • Consults with departmental personnel, Department of Management Services personnel, and private agencies concerning long-range correctional program development.
  • Evaluates program performance in light of stated objectives and future trends.
  • Coordinates federally funded programs as required and directs grant coordination activities.
  • Assures uniform correctional program quality throughout the department.
  • Prepares letters and speeches on behalf of administrative superiors.
  • Projects current and planned programs to determine needed changes, develops alternatives and assesses their consequences.
  • Evaluates programs that cross inter-departmental lines to identify gaps of coverage, overlaps and failures to respond to the needs of the department.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate reports and records describing planning and evaluation activities in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Coordinates the application of local government land use plans and socio-economic forecasts to transportation planning models.
  • Coordinates public participation programs for transportation planning projects.
  • Provides administrative assistance to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) staffs.
  • Identifies areas of concern to establish clearer understanding of transportation/land use interrelationships.
  • Evaluates land use plans, demographic and economic distributions and forecasts for the major urban areas' projects or rapid growth areas' projects.
  • Evaluates the consistency of transportation plan alternatives with adopted goals and objectives for the major urban areas' projects.
  • Applies established forecasting procedures to project future transportation needs and community impacts.
  • Evaluates the impact of complex or multi-faceted transportation alternatives on land use, land use densities, disadvantaged groups, etc.
  • Prepares written and oral reports on the transportation planning forecasts of future development, and impacts on major issues.
  • Performs related work as required.
