CLASS TITLE: NURSING EDUCATION DIRECTOR - SBN

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is nursing work planning, organizing, directing, and administering nursing education functions for the State Board of Nursing (SBN).

  • Directs education functions of the board.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of Nursing Education Consultants - SBN.
  • Manages the staff of the nursing education section of the board in the processing of applications for licensure by examination.
  • Recommends to the board in the processing of applications for licensure by examination.
  • Prepares periodic reports.
  • Evaluates applications for initiation of new nursing programs and/or changes in existing programs and makes recommendations to the board.
  • Consults with administrative officers regarding planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing education programs.
  • Plans and participates in conferences, workshops, meetings, and conventions on behalf of the board.
  • Serves as liaison between the board and state, regional, or national agencies and organizations.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing and four years of professional nursing experience, one year of which must have involved providing instruction in nursing; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, one year of which must have involved providing instruction in nursing.
