CLASS TITLE:FORESTRY RESOURCE ADMINISTRATOR - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work directing the activities of a forestry section involving timber management and production, nursery and/or seed orchard production, forest products sales, and communications center operation of a Forestry Center. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Directs the work of employees to ensure best use of time and resources.
  • Directs employees in the forestry section responsible for timber management and production, forest products sales, and nursery and/or orchard production.
  • Develops and administers operational budgets.
  • Assists in development and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Develops and assists in the formulation of both long and short-range operational plans.
  • Assists supervisor in all areas of forestry work to ensure full protection and productivity in forest management, fire control, forest education, and administrative programs of a Forestry Center.
  • Directs a communications center responsible for maintaining radio, telephone, and computer traffic for a Forestry Center.
  • Determines value of forest resources and promotes forest resource sales.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of accounting procedures used to monitor budget and forest resources.
  • Determines and recommends the location of roads and drainage structures related to timber management and production.
  • Responsible for the annual production, testing, distribution and sale of forestry seedlings for a state nursery.
  • Responsible for maintenance of records on established orchards containing grafted trees, propagation and testing of family lines for superior growth, form, and disease resistance and related fertilization, insect control, mowing, pruning, soil sampling, mapping and rogueing necessary to promote maximum seed production and yields.
  • Performs related work as required.
