Class ProceduresClass Period ____

DAILY PREPARATION:

  1. Please be on time. Class begins at ______. You are in your SEAT at the bell.
  2. You are expected to have a writing utensil and paper for class every day.
  3. Unless told otherwise, you are expected to bring your COVERED NORTON, style folder, and assignment pad to class every day.

*YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN AN INQUIRY UNLESS YOU HAVE YOUR TEXTBOOK, AND WILL RECEIVE A ZERO.

We are all occasionally absent-minded; therefore, a once in awhile lapse in the above is understandable. However, a continued practice of not having these materials necessary to succeed in English class will result in a lowering of your grade.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Assignments must be typed or printed neatly in BLUE or BLACK ink.
  2. Assignments must be DOUBLE SPACED.
  3. Please use a 12-14 point READABLE FONT.
  4. All major assignment must be typed.
  5. Please use ONE staple for multi-page assignments in the upper left hand corner.
  6. Please write your name, the date the assignment is due, and the period in the upper right-hand corner of the assignment.
  7. All assignments will be on the syllabus and available on MOODLE.
  8. ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE HANDED IN THE DUE DATE. IF A MAJOR ASSIGNMENT IS LATE, THE GRADE WILL BE LOWERED BY ONE LETTER FOR EACH SCHOOL DAY IT IS LATE. AFTER FIVE SCHOOL DAYS, THE GRADE IS A ZERO. IF THE ASSIGNMENT IS DISCUSSED IN CLASS BEFORE THE LATE ASSIGNMENT IS TURNED IN, THE GRADE IS A ZERO.
  9. All major assignments must be submitted to TURNITIN.COM by midnight on the due date of the assignment. TURNITIN IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A HARD COPY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT IF I REQUIRE IT; EITHER IS EMAILING ME THE ASSIGNMENT.
  10. All MAJOR assignments are eligible for a re-assessment if certain criteria are met. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, the assignment must be handed in on time and 80% complete. Please see me individually within 48 hrs. of the return of the assignment if you would like to take part in a reassessment. Reassessments are individual and I will not discuss them during class. Please note that the reassessment can be a different type of assignment depending on the skill that needs to be reassessed. For example, the reassessment of an objective test on a piece of piece of literature, could involve answering several essay questions using textual support. If you fail to submit a reassessment after we have met and agreed on an assignment, your grade will be a zero
  11. You WILL NEVER be allowed to print out an assignment or go to the media center to print. Consider saving your documents in a PDF file, so that they can easily be attached to your email account and can be read regardless of computer and software systems.

ATTENDANCE/MAKE-UPS:

  1. Follow the attendance policy in the student handbook; excessive absences WILL affect your grade.
  2. If you are in music lessons or on a field trip, you are not excused from the assignment that is due that day or the work due the next day. Give the work DIRECTLY to me.
  3. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, quizzes and tests should be made up in the media center or after school by THREE school days after you return you’re your absence. After three days, the grade is a zero.

You are responsible for keeping up with the work in this class as much as possible. I will be happy to conference with you to help you catch up whenever you need it. Please do not wait. As soon as you feel behind, come to see me.
