Literacy:
  • Read to a group and answer questions about what has been read.
  • Choose a book to read for enjoyment and read to ourselves.
  • Read for information and then make notes under headings.
  • Use the information gathered to create a fact file on the computer.
  • Learn how to conduct a fair test and write up a science experiment.
  • Continue to improve spelling ability and strategies for tackling unfamiliar words.
  • Continue to develop our VCOP (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation) when writing sentences.
  • Develop our handwriting by learning how to form cursive letters.
  • Listen carefully and follow simple instructions.
/ Numeracy:
*These vary slightly depending on level, but most of us will:
Increase our speed and accuracy in mental maths.
Ensure we are confident with number bonds to 20.
Add and subtract 2 and 3 digit numbers using a written method involving carrying.
Multiply and Divide by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10.
Use our times tables with speed and accuracy.
Create, sort and analyse data using tally marks, pictograms and bar graphs.
Identify coins, add amounts and find the correct change up to £1.
Begin to show an understanding of probability by looking at how certain / improbable it is that events will occur.
Health & Wellbeing:
Develop team-building skills in PE by completing team challenges and playing team games.
Learn how to stretch, warm-up and cool-down when exercising.
Challenge our minds and bodies by following aerobics instructions.
Understand about friendship and what makes a good friend.
Work well with a partner and group in learning situations.
Listen to others and share our own opinions and feelings in Circle Time.
Complete a daily mile on days that we don’t have PE. / Contexts for Learning: Transport
  • Transport Around the World: Compare transport types
  • Create posters with flags, transport & information for each place.
  • History of Transport: Create a timeline of vehicles.
  • Name & know whether the vehicles travel on land, water or air, or if they are hybrid vehicles.
  • Design a new mode of transport/find a solution to a problem.
  • Design and create a boat that will float (floating and sinking).
  • Design and create a car with moving wheels (friction).
  • Make a parachute to carry different items: complete a fair test.

Other Events:
Take part in whole school events: Watching the M&M Theatre Production; Voting for our class Pupil Council Reps; Celebrate Roald Dahl’s Birthday & participate in French Week activities. Develop skills in working as a team and adapt to take on different roles within each team.  Show that we can be kind and friendly to others. Develop a ‘can do’ approach to all areas of learning in and beyond school. Participate in clubs both in and out of school. Follow the Golden Rules to earn Golden Time each week. Work hard to earn Dojo (Personal) points and Well Done Tickets that will lead towards a Gold Card. Work as a class to meet our class target by earning marbles and receiving a whole class reward. Have fun & enjoy learning! /
