AH Music Practical Exams: The AH practical exams will be taking place most of today in the Music department. If the signs on the door say “No Entry” please adhere to this instruction as recording is taking place. Access to other departments can be made via the amphitheatre. Instrumental lesson will take place as normal. If you are in Mr French's classes please enter and leave very quietly.Thank you for your cooperation.

Modern Languages Speaking Assessments: Recordings will be taking place in the ML department all day on Thursday 26 February and Monday 2 March. Could all pupils please keep the noise in the corridor to a minimum on those days. Thank you. (LL)

Castle to Cathedral Heritage Experience: Would you like to be involved in developing a heritage experience for Elgin to enhance the visitor experience of Elgin City Centre? We need your help in developing this project in relation to the following areas:

  • Web and mobile technology – interactive websites and mobile technology
  • Events and activities – tours, talks, medieval banquets, exhibitions, costumes, staging, armoury
  • Interpretation – script writing, historical research, art work – sculptures etc

If you are interested in this exciting project please come along to a meeting today (Tuesday) at 1.40pm in the Meeting Room (G54). Those of you who have previously signed up for this should also attend the meeting.

S3 and S4 DofE: Anyone who is aspiring to go on their bronze or silver expedition this year, please could you come to a meeting at 1:15pm today (Tuesday) in G47. (AG)

Scottish Book Awards Outstanding Successes: Some of our S3 pupils have been participating in The Scottish Book Awards and we are absolutely delighted that several of those pupils have won the top prizes in the competitions. Congratulations to Morven Cumming, Anais Bliault and Ben Reid, who have been chosen as the winners of this year's SCBA book trailer competition for the book Dark Spell. We are absolutely delighted for them and congratulations go twice now to Anais, who has also won second prize in the review competition. Scottish Book Trust will be showcasing the trailer as a permanent feature of their website. It is also available to view via the school website. The winning pupils, along with class mates and Mrs Havinden and Mrs Toonen, will travel to Edinburgh on 4 March to collect their prizes and meet the authors. They will also compete in a quiz and meet pupils from other schools participating in the book awards. (ST)

World Book Day Graphic Novel Extravaganza: Next Thursday, 5 March we will have our Drop Everything and Read from 10:30 – 10:45am. Don’t forget to pack a book for it. And, make sure you are in the library at lunchtime on Thursday 5 March for The Graphic Novel World Book Day Extravaganza:

A panel of staff will talk about a graphic novel at lunchtime, in comic book character fancy dress, for 2 minutes. Please come along to the library and support them. We will also havea pop-up graphic novel bookshop: exciting titles at knockout prices, a hands-on comic book workshop and superhero cakes for sale. Make sure you buy these stunning cakes with your fab comic book heroes on them. And, a fancy dress competition: dress as you favourite comic book character and join in the fun. (ST)

Sports Personality of the Year: This competition is open to all pupils in S1-S6 who are competing in sport at a regional, national or international level. Alternatively, it is also open to pupils who give up lots of time to help develop sport through coaching. Application forms are available from your PE teacher or your Guidance teacher. Closing date for entries is 27 February thereafter the winner will be decided by a whole school vote. Get your entry in now to be in with a chance of winning this prestigious award!! (MMcD)

YPOD: Come and meet the staff team at the YPOD (Young People’s Open Door), lunchtime on Wednesdays. Please come along and let us know what health and wellbeing topics you would like at lunch times in the BRIDGE (across from reception).

S1/S2 Rugby Team: Match today is postponed. Match next week (4th) is against Huntly Away. Please confirm you want to play with Mr Kelly. Training as normal on Wednesday outside. (PK)

S3 RAF Careers Taster Day: Anyone interested in attending a RAF careers taster day on 19th March, please give your name to your guidance teacher by Friday 27 February. (LB)

Hockey Club: The club is continuing on Thursday's 5-6pm. All new members welcome! We plan to be in the Sports Hall for the moment, however if the weather is good on the day we shall definitely go outside. Therefore you need to bring along appropriate clothing for both options! S3 Assembly: There will be an S3 assembly at registration on Friday 27 February 2015. Students should report directly to hall at registration. (KJG)

S1 & S2 Novelties Book Group: Group will meet tomorrow in the library at 1.10pm. (ST)

S3 Xscape Trip Meeting: There is a meeting on Thursday 26 February in room G31 at 1:20pm for all pupils who have signed up for the trip to Xscape. Thank you. (AD)

S1/S2 Interhouse Table Tennis: This event will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1.05pm in the Assembly Hall. Please sign up in the PE base if you are interested in taking part. There will be a girls and boys competition. Everyone who enters will receive house points! Mr Kinnear/Mr Sim.

Modern Languages Study Support: After school study support for National 4, National 5 and Higher French is every Tuesday from 3.20pm onwards in B12. (LL)

Elgin Academy Seniors v Gordonstoun: 3.45pm KO on the grass pitch. Can the senior footballers report to Mr Baker/Mr McAvinue to confirm availability ASAP. On Thursday, report to the PE department at 3.20pm.

NHS Grampian Modern Apprenticeship Programme (Mechanical and Electrical Engineer): Two individuals are currently to be recruited to participate on this 4 year programme. Interested students should have a minimum of 5 SG passes at grades 1,2 or 3 or Nat5 passes at A or B in Maths, English, Physics, a Technical subject and one other subject. Applicants should apply on-line via the website: Closing date is Friday 20 March 2015. (CF)

S4/5/6: All students (apart from those at college) will be taking place in a Health and Wellbeing event on Wednesday 25 March. For each year group the event will last 2 periods.

  • S4 students should report to the hall at the start of P1.
  • S5 students should report to the hall at the start of P3.
  • S6 students should report to the hall at the start of P5.
