OCTOBER EVENTS

  • Diabetes Self Management (6 Week Program) continues- Class may be cancelled due to low enrollment. Please register to attend with Terri. Classes meet 9:45-12 Wednesdays, 10/7, 10/14 and 10/21.
  • Friday, October 9, 2015 – Installation Lunch at CortlandtColonial - 12-3. Your President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer will be installed for 2016 and 2017. Transportation will be provided from the senior center. Choose from Prime Rib, Chicken Picatta or Tilapia. Sign up in Senior Club Room beginning September 14, 2015 until October 2, 2015.
  • Monday, October 12, 2015 – Club and Nutrition Center Closed for Columbus Day
  • Tuesday, October 13 at 12:45. HORSE RACING - Horses, tellers, cashier, runners and animal control volunteers are needed. Please come support and have a blast!
  • Thursday, October 15, 2015 – Freedom Towers Visit, lunch and NYC Tour. Charter will depart Senior Club at 9:00 and return at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sign up in Club beginning September 14, 2015. Cost is $75 members/$85 non club member.

  • Tuesday, October 20, 2015 – Empire Casino, Yonkers, New York. $2 pp. Bus departs at 8:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, October 22, 2015 – Dessert and Dancing courtesy of Krishna from Sunshine Daycare. Come learn the salsa and treat yourself to dessert at the senior club. Begins at 12:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 24, 2015 – Senior Club/Library Tag Sale! 11-4 upstairs Volunteers needed for planning, set up and day of. Please price all items donated.
  • Birthday Masquerade Mardi Gras Barbeque, Thursday, October 29 at 12 p.m.– Start working on those costumes for this wonderful event! This year the theme will be Mardi Gras-New Orleans Style, October 29, 2015 celebrating those with October Birthdays as our honored guests. $5 members/$10 non members, birthday celebrants-free. Price includes raffles and prizes for costumes

  • Westchester Dinner Theatre Trip, Friday, December 4. Lunch followed by, “Tim and Scrooge” in Elmsford, New York. $55 per person. First come, first serve. All money must be paid by October 26, 2015.

  • Music You Love! World Music Class, Beginning February 4-25, 2016, 10-12. Explore selected music from different world cultures and examine similarities, differences and concepts of music. “Serge will return to bring us more culture.
  • What Matters to You? – Join our writing Circle and Find out. This six-week, one-hour class, facilitated by workshop leader and local author, Cathy Wald, will guide seniors in putting thoughts and memories on paper and, if desired, sharing with others. What Matters Kick Off – 3/17; Class Begins April 1-April 29, 2016. More information to follow.

Regular exercise goes a long way toward improving or maintaining balance, keeping joints well-oiled and strengthening muscles to protect joints. Adding an aerobic workout , whether it is swimming, walking, dancing, body movement or zumba gold will help control or prevent high blood pressure and decrease the risks of heart attacks and strokes.
