The Girls INTOPSfor Edinburgh county will be a one-day event on Saturday 18th June 2016 from 10am until 4pm. The event will be based at Edinburgh HQ at 33 Melville Street.

INTOPS (INTernational OPportunitieS) is all about having fun, and finding out about international Guiding and the opportunities available. It is also an opportunity to be considered for the Scottish INTOPS event in August to fill places on international trips run by Girlguiding Scotland in 2017.

If you are interested in being considered for Scottish INTOPS, you must attend at Edinburgh INTOPS. You should also read the following Guidelines to check you meet the requirements. There are usually 3 Scottish trips each year, which are a mixture of European trips and something further afield. For example, in 2016 there are trips to Mexico, Finland and an international camp in England. The Scottish INTOPS for 2017 trips is a camp at Netherurd, Blyth Bridge (nr Peebles)from 26th-28thAugust 2016.

Each County in Scotland can choose one girl from each age group (see below) and one additional girl. In addition, a reserve for each age group can be chosen. If some Counties fail to put forward a candidate the names of all reserves are put in a hat and names are picked out to fill the remaining places. If you wish to be considered, you must be an active member of Girlguiding and have a real desire to travel as a member. You should be friendly and able to respond to a challenge. If chosen for a trip, you will be expected to help with fundraising.
