City of Bristol Rowing Cub – Junior 2011 Summer Training Camp
Proposal
Following the successful trip to Ghent earlier this year there is a proposal that the Junior section would undertake a 4 day (Monday to Thursday) Training camp in Ghent (same venue) in August 2011 – exact date to be confirmed but probably 2nd or 3rd week.
The purpose of the Training camp is for the Bristol club junior section to utilise the facilities of the area in Ghent to undertake a focussed training programme.
Approach
Training/Instruction
Students would be supervised by fully qualified coaches from after breakfast in the morning until before dinner in the evening– Monday to Thursday inclusive. Parental/Guardian supervision will be required out side of these times. There will be no parent involvement to support the training during this time
Regatta
There is the opportunity for some racing against Ghent crews during the Training camp.
Accommodation and Travel and Supervision
It is proposed at this stage that travel should be independently arranged and that juniors need to arrive in Ghent at least the day before commencement of the camp.
The proposed campsite/accommodation is Blaarmeersen,Ghent which is where we stayed earlier this year. There is caravan, tenting and Cabin accommodation. It would help with logistics and supervision if all Juniors used this accommodation.
Parental/ Guardian control is required to ensure safety of the Students and adherence to Training camp rules. Parents/Guardians who cannot travel with junior members must provide information to the organisers of the trip that their child(ren) are under the guardianship of another travelling adult and that the adult has agreed to this. The trip is not run through the rowing club and the coaches will take no responsibility for children outside of the coaching period.
Costs
The following are just estimates (in pounds rather than euros) at this stage and represent an order of magnitude. They are per junior rowing member participating in the Training camp. They assume a reasonable number of attendees. They do not include travel to and from Ghent.
