Citrus College –Associate of Science Degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security and a Certificate of Achievement

Citrus Community College offersan Associate of Science Degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security and a Certificate of Achievement. The programs will provide both students and currently working emergency managers the required courses and learning domains to apply for employment with emergency management agencies, such as the local cities and county governments in California and non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, and federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security (FEMA). Additionally, those currently working in the field will have a recognized degree.

This degree requires meeting the Citrus College General Education and proficiency requirements combined with successful completion (grades of “C” and above) of the following major requirements:

Associate of Science Degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security curriculum:

Required Courses (15 Units)

EMER162 / Principles of Emergency Management / (3 units)
EMER163 / Terrorism and Emergency Management / (3 units)
EMER164 / Managing Hazardous Materials Incidents / (3 units)
EMER166 / Emergency Planning and Methodology / (3 units)
EMER167 / Practical applications of Emergency Management / (3 units)

Plus a minimum of 6 units selected form the following

EMER168 / Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Management / (3 units)
ESCI180 / Introduction to Geographic Information Systems / (3 units)
HEAL161 / Emergency Medical Technician – Basic / (7 units)

Certificate of Achievement Curriculum:
