Course Objectives: Students will master the skills necessary to launch and complete a successful computer investigation. Students will learn how to conduct high-tech investigations by acquiring digital evidence, how to set up a forensics lab, how to acquire the proper and necessary tools, and how to conduct the investigation and subsequent digital analysis.

Grading and Evaluation Criteria:Grades are calculated based on accumulated points on Chapter End questions(points vary), Quizzes (15pts), Chapter assigned labs (10pts each), LabConnection work, Midterm (200pts) and Final Exam (200pts), and involvement in class discussions and attendance. Forty points will be dropped from the final score (and will become extra credit if no work is missed).Both examinations may be given in a multiple choice, true/false, matching format. Weekly assigned work is due by 4pm of the assigned date.

Withdrawals: In accordance with the SCF policy as stated in the college catalog, students may withdraw from any course or all courses without academic penalty of a WF by the withdrawal deadline as listed in the SCF academic calendar. The student must take responsibility for initiating the withdrawal procedure. Students are strongly encouraged to talk with their instructors first before taking any withdrawal action.

Standards of Conduct: Students are expected to abide by all Lancer Student Handbook guidelines

Attendance: Attendance is expected for all scheduled class periods during the semester. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to make arrangements to make up any tests you missed. No Labs can be made up. All exams must be proctored and taken during class hours in class. Students may be withdrawn after 2 consecutive missed classes ‘without cause’.
