Updating patron status – create list & rapid update that list

Interlibrary Loan

– Marking an item received in ILL module – how to edit if you mark something incorrectly?? – Haven’t found a way – record gets “locked” and III has to free the “locked” record

- Entering a new request – hit acquire but it doesn’t go to the patrons record – another locked record – III has to free – Enhancement Request

Interlibrary loan statistics – some libraries use the CLIO stats – others use homemade systems (Jenny uses an Access database)

ILL Public module – patron initiated requests go directly to patron record – transfer the request to WorldCat – can only go from ILL module to OCLC and not the other way – part of the reason why many don’t feel the module works very well

Bilingual messages on notices – Manual reference #105796 – You do have to know the language so locate a translator to be sure that the messages are worded correctly.

High Demand Holds – new with Rel.2007 – supplements but does not replace purchase alerts – compares the number of holds to the number of items present in the catalog – it is thought that this also works with order records in the system – the report works like the “View Outstanding Holds” where the data is collected via chron job (overnight process) and you are unable to see today’s additions – the Pre-Conference session on Thursday dealt a lot with Holds processes including High Demand Holds so once that info is up on the WILIUG web site we encourage those that were unable to attend that session to check on the information presented there as well.

Communication w/One Time Decoupler & Express Lane Self Check – III is looking for a development partner on this with patron API – LTI does have this already & it communicates w/Millennium – anyone interested in being a development partner should contact Peter Zeimet (WI III representative) or Diane Lewin (IL III representative) and they will get you in touch with the proper people at III.

Loan Rules for the end of the semester – able to set up patron expiration for end of semester to get items returned – absolute due dates may work for this stand alone library – some libraries patrons expire once per year and there isn’t a problem about getting items back in a timely fashion.
