Sample photos were made to develop correct lighting and backgrounds. Tentatively, the plan is to start taking photos the weekend after Easter for seven weekends. Postcards will be sent out to all registered parish families.

Environment/Climate CommitteeKathleen Doran-Norton

Fr Denny presented at the recent Climate Forum at Carleton College. George Kinney has volunteered as Chairman for the Climate Committee.

Archdiocesan BankruptcyFr Denny, Mary Crow, SteveKoziolek

The Judge has moved the proceedings to Mediation to resolve the bankruptcy quickly. Fifty parishes will be represented by Mary Jo Jensen Carter. St Dominic will be represented by Mark Kallafrom the firm of Lapp/Libra. At this time no action is required by St Dominic.

Committee Reports

FinanceSteveKoziolek

  • The Finance committee working with the Maintenance committee is moving ahead to spend Capital funds for improving the school boiler, Tuck pointing the school building, and asbestos removal in the boiler room and cafeteria. This will greatly improve the energy efficiency and usage by the school. This was approved by the Parish Council

MaintenanceTom McGovern

  • Following energy audit recommendation, 650 LED bulbs will be installed in place of fluorescent bulbs. Potential rebate from Excel Energy and substantial energy savings are expected.
  • Renovation of the Church four bathrooms.
  • All air exchangers in the school will be inspected for proper functioning.
  • Rental Home at 303 St. Olaf Ave. needs roof and window repairs.

EducationJean Noack

  • For Lent, the school will be having Ash Wednesday Mass and leading Stations of the Cross each Friday at 8:20 am. Friday March 6 will have Stations of the Cross in Mime at 10am and 6pm.
  • Saints Night Out will be held February21. All are welcome. Tickets for dinner are $12.50 and a bid number.
  • Since December 7 new students were enrolled: 2 preschoolers and 5 in other grades.
  • School Open House is Jan 29 with special appearance by ‘Jack Sparrow’. All are invited.
  • SAC is working on the budget for the upcoming school year and taking into consideration tuition and salaries.
  • The school is looking for an IT person or company who could offer affordable tech support in a MAC environment.

Liturgy Lorilee Malecha

  • New committee members met to review Role and Principle for the Liturgy Committee, areas of Ministry, Music storage and Equipment usage and storage. New and current members are Tim Morisette, Patty Betterly, Martha Barth, Deb Kopas, and Lorilee Malecha.
  • Lenten activities were reviewed including the Ash Wednesday bilingual Mass.

Faith FormationRick Nelson

  • SpringFund raising was planned for this summer’s Mission Trip.
  • Confirmation Retreat for Grade 10 will be held at Mt. Olivet.

Health Ministries

New Yoga class is starting Feb 26 for 5 weeks.

AED training is tentatively scheduled for May 18 prior to the Parish Committee meetings.

Upcoming event: Rice County Mental Health Summit, Thursday Feb 19, 4:00 pm at South Central, Faribault.

Health Finders Gala is planned for April 25 at the Grand in Northfield. The goal is to raise funds for Medication Assistance Program.
