December 5, 2017
Christmas Eve practice – Saturday, December 9 and 16 from 9:00-10:30 (Pre K from 9:00-9:30). Pastor Naumann has decided not to have practice on Saturday, December 23.
Bags for lockers – Please send one or two paper grocery bags with your child by Monday, December 18. The students will be cleaning out their lockers and desks. This is a great time for parents to check on supplies that may need to be replaced. By this time, many students are out of paper, pencils, Kleenex, glue etc. The students will also be bringing home their inside shoes. Please take the time to check these over for fit as well as wear and tear.
Lost and Found – Quite an assortment of items has accumulated over the last few weeks. They will be displayed on a table in the hallway over the weekend. Please take a look if you’re here for Christmas Eve practice on Saturday. There are several jackets as well as shoes, hats and various other misc.
ILC Christmas Concert – Friday, December 15 - 7:30 p.m. at Messiah. If you are relatively new to Messiah the Immanuel Lutheran High School and College Christmas Concert is a wonderful opportunity to hear praises to the Lord in song.
Parent Drive Day – December 22. Parents are responsible for getting their children to and from school
Christmas Party – Messiah School’s Christmas Party is Friday, December 22. Students will be treated to a hot lunch. They do not need to bring a lunch that day. Kindergartners will stay all day and ride the bus with older students at the end of the day. Students will exchange gifts within their classrooms. Individual teachers will inform you of the gift exchange procedure for their classroom. Gifts may be brought to school any time from the 11th to the 22nd. They may be placed under the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall. Kindergarten and 1st-2nd grade gifts should be brought to their classroom.
Gift Exchange for Christmas Party - Here is some basic information:
Students exchange gifts with classmates on the day of the school Christmas Party. Please try to keep the gifts in the range of $5-$6, as some families have several children to buy for and it could become quite an expense. If you would like to purchase a more expensive gift, you may do so with the understanding that the above price range is what your child might receive. The individual teachers will inform you through their classroom newsletters what the exchange procedure will be for their class.
Christmas Eve Program – Children should be sure to be at church by6:15AT THE LATEST for our Christmas Eve Service and should go to their classrooms. Just a heads- up if this is going to be the first time you are attending a Christmas Eve service at Messiah, parking and seating fill up quite early. (It is not uncommon for people to arrive as early as an hour ahead of time) If parents and their children can put their coats in the school lockers this will free up hanger space for our visitors. Also, parking will be available on our upper athletic field - go up the pastor's driveway and take a left where indicated. Thanks!
Sleds - Students may bring sleds to school to use at recess if they wish. Please be sure the sleds are marked with your child’s name. If left at school they will be kept outside in a sled corral.
Cold Weather Clothing Reminder – With the weather getting colder, please remember to send your child to school with the appropriate outer garments. Labeling all items is very helpful as well.
