Job Description

Salary:£27,553Hours:37 per week

Primary Objectives:

  • To manage services to women at high risk through the provision of a high quality IDVA service to women.
  • To manage outreach services to a high standard to ensure women are offered access to our services through both 1:1 support and information sessions based in accessible, offsite premises.
  • To ensure signposting to other services and strong relationships with key external agencies, to ensure appropriate referrals in and out of Survive’ services and through the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences.
  • To manage a project in partnership with North Bristol Trust which provides a service to men and women who present with symptoms related to domestic abuse through three part time A&E based IDSVAs.
  • To manage the provision of the Freedom Programme (group work for women to support their recovery from domestic abuse) in three locations in South Gloucestershire.
  • To support the reputation and understanding of the agency through the development of external relationships with stake holders, awareness raising, delivery of training, presentationsand to take an active role in the strategic development of the agency as a part of the management team.

Responsible for:Independent Domestic Violence Advisers, A & E based IDSVAs, Outreach & Resettlement Support Workers,Group programme facilitators, social work students and volunteers

Key Relationships:Board of Trustees, all staff and volunteers,students andexternal agencies.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Operational

  1. To oversee all service users accessing IDVA, IDSVA A&E services, Outreach and Group Work services ensuring effective delivery of services, providing additional support and advocacy as required. To offer on-call support where necessary.
  2. To oversee and manage initial referrals into our IDVA service and act upon them as required.
  3. To ensure appropriate liaison between workers within all projects, regarding matters pertaining to women and their children and men via the A&E service.
  4. To ensure appropriate support agencies are identified and appropriate referral procedures and partnership working is followed.
  5. To oversee the effective day-to-day running of services for women (IDVA,IDSVA A&E,outreach, resettlement &Freedom Programme).
  6. Participate in on call arrangements as necessary.

Administrative

  1. To undertake and assist in administrative and budgetary control necessary to ensure the smooth running of services for women.
  2. To collate, analyse and present appropriate statistical data and prepare reports to ensure effective monitoring of services is possible.
  3. To participate with other staff to provide cover to the admin and support lines at Survive to ensure a quality service at the first point of contact.

Networking

  1. To liaise with relevant external agencies and funders to ensure productive and collaborative working.
  2. To raise the profile of Survive through active involvement in and networking with relevant organisations and forums.
  3. To support Survive’s fundraising through active promotion of events and involvement in fundraising events.
  4. To promote awareness about domestic abuse and Survive through the delivery of training and presentations.

Strategic and management

  1. To coordinate and supervise staff working within services for IDVA, Outreach and group work ensuring effective, appropriate and safe working practices, regular team meetings and communication across the projects.
  2. Ensure that services for IDVA, IDSVA A&E and Outreach and group work meet the requirements of funders.
  3. To support and where appropriate, lead on the development of policy objectives relating to services for IDVA, outreach and group work and to implement and maintain agency policies and procedures.
  4. To seek and develop opportunities in relation to services for IDVA, IDSVA A&E, Outreach and group work to ensure best practice and to respond to identified gaps in service provision.
  5. To support the Chief Executive in research into and the completion of relevant bids to trusts and other funding sources.
  6. To work closely with other managers to cover their services if they are not available to ensure services to women and children are delivered consistently.
  7. To ensure equality of opportunity is maintained at all times.
  8. To oversee adult and child safeguarding issues within IDVA/outreach services; providing support and information to staff as necessary.

Person specification:

Essential skills knowledge and experience

1.At least four years experience of work in a relevant field including case management
2.Excellent understanding of domestic abuse including causes and consequences.
3.An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities
4.An excellentunderstanding of and experience in working with child protection issues
5.An excellent understanding of Safe lives guidelines for women at high risk and the MARAC process.
6.An ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
7.Excellent verbal and written communication skills
8.A level 4 qualification in Social Work/Safe lives training for IDVAs/Level 4 qualification in a different field with an additional 2 years relevant experience in working with women at high risk of DV.
9.Experienced in ensuring appropriate health and safety standards are maintained
10.Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to empathise with others
11.Experienced and skilled in managing and developing staff and providing supervision
12.Experience of organising, planning and evaluating own work
13.Strong project management skills and experience
14.Experienced in multi agency working
15.Experienced in working with and managing volunteers and students.
16.Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
17.A willingness to be flexible, including working flexible hours and occasional out of hours meetings and be able adapt to changing needs in the workplace
18.Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage a complex and demanding workload
19.Experience of working under pressure and an ability to cope with the stress.
20.Excellent administrative skills including financial and competency in Windows based software and IT packages
21.Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle or alternative means of travel.
