Children’s Activities

The Claremont Hub and Library has something for every little person.From board books for babies, picture books, beginner readers, graphic novels, non-fiction, audio books, magazines, DVDs, music CDs to young adult. The Claremont Hub & Library provides a range of entertaining and educational activities for a wide range of ages, during school holidays. Summer Reading Club happens over the summer holidays.


Regular children’s activities include:

Activity / Day & Time / Overview
Story Time / Friday at 10.30am / It’s a great way to introduce children to the world of books and encourage a love of reading. Create something crafty to take home. Suitable for 2-4 year olds.
Baby Rhyme Time / Wednesday at 10.30am / Join in the fun of singing songs and action rhymes and share a book while developing early pre-literacy and social skills.
For children 2 and under.
Lego Club / Friday at 3.30pm to 4.30pm / Children have the opportunity to be creative and build anything they choose. They canwork on their own creations, or build as a team. Lego is provided while children provide the imagination!

Better Beginnings

Read to your baby from birth. In partnership with the State Library of Western Australia and the Health Department of Western Australia, Town of Claremont aims to give every baby born in the area a Better Beginnings gift pack.Collect a Better Beginnings parent toolkit with a beautiful board book for your baby from your child health nurse or from the Library. Better Beginnings Backpacks

The Library has a number of Better Beginnings Backpacks available for loan. These resources encourage early literacy activities in a variety of different ways.
First Experience Backpacks

The library has a number of backpacks available to help you and your child deal with a new baby, going to hospital and death.


LOTE Collection

The libraryhas a small collection of books for young people in Languages Other than English.

Children’s Book Week

This national program runs during August each year. Shortlisted books are announced in May with winners announced in August. For more information please visit

Families are invited to join in events provided just for them whilst enjoying a snack and juice.
School Holidays

A range of entertaining and educational activities for a wide range of ages are run during the holidays. An example is the Summer Reading Club that is on over the summer holidays. Library Tours

Library staff can also arrange group visits for schools, day care centres, playgroups, pre-primary schools, kindergartens and other interested organisations.
